Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA genuine, traditional Inn - superbly comfortable while unpretentious. Perfect location for visiting the Abbey. Warm and helpful staff. No hard sell for anything and a GREAT breakfast. So nice to our puppy and such a lovely room overlooking Lacock village. Could not fault it.

United KingdomNot much. I thought the windows being propped open with logs of wood could be dangerous if they accidentally fell to the pavement below.

United KingdomRoom was quite hot
The room was a good size and on first floor, the location was good, right on the doorstep of Lacock Abbey. Food was lovely. The village itself was lovely with the added benefit of the Harry Potter filming locations.

BelgiumThe room was charming, but don't expect a modern one, i.e. with a mini-fridge or a high-pressure shower (which is arguably part of the charm of the old hotel and Lacock in general). We stayed in Bath, Lacock, Oxford and London and this was our most expensive stay, we were aware of the "charm above comfort" style but we figured it's important to be aware of this.
Very friendly and helpful staff! We were always heartily greeted in the beautiful Red Lion and given tips for Lacock. It is a truly unique location to stay in the heart of the charming little town. The place breathes history and the interior choices create an authentic atmosphere. The breakfast is not a buffet but you can choose from a menu à la carte with dishes ranging from traditional English breakfast over toast avocado to granola yoghurt.

New ZealandRaised cover for plug hole in the middle of a shower is not a good plan. No tray in shower for soap, shampoo etc. One window would not close properly.
Good breakfast with wide choice of cooked breakfasts. Good tea tray with plenty of milk cartons. Pleasant staff.

SwedenThis is such a special and wonderful place, both the hotel and the village, making it difficult to give it justice in a few words. Therefore, the short review is as follows: It was well worth to do a trip to the UK just for this one night stay.

United KingdomThe parking is a bit hit and miss as it’s a public car park
Although the place is old, it was very clean and had a lot of finishing touches in the room-toiletries and hand cream etc. The fan was much appreciated . It’s worth noting that the property is next to an ice cream parlour (although we don’t try it)

United KingdomNothing!
The staff, food and location were all excellent and can't be faulted. The building is fabulous with so much character. The rooms reflect the age of the place, with very high ceilings and floors with cambers. Don't expect something contemporary and squeaky clean, but this is all part of its charm.
