Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSorry to say there is a strong smell of kerosene downstairs. Carbon monoxide alarm is provided and air freshener run from socket which help a bit.
Very interesting area. Very clean cottage and very comfortable. Our dogs could not quite believe the rabbits came so close to the house.

United KingdomIf house name had been on both sides of sign it would have been easier to find especially in the dusk, & some info on how to use the shower, it looked amazing but couldn't figure out how to use it. Also quite a distinctive smell of ? heating oil at the back of house .
House & facilities excellent. Very clean & comfortable.

United KingdomThe garden is not fenced in fully, which is only a problem because we took the dog and there are loads of rabbits about. Also you have to pay £15 for the dog per night which was not stated at time of booking, neither was the £150 deposit which has to be pre authorised in case needed.
The cottage is well kept and in a lovely village

United KingdomThe beds were not very comfortable and the thermostat was fixed at 22c - so it did get cold at some points during our stay. Quite a distinctive smell of dog, wasn't over powering, but could smell it. Be warned, if you stay here there is more admin than with other stays; you have to fill in preregistration forms else they wont give you the code to the key locker and there is a £150 deposit that you must pay on top before you check in; for which they ask for your long card number, expiry and CVV on the back of the card. That gave me concern so I did it another way and they charged me £5 for the banking fee - which I am sure is illegal to pass on to consumers. The were quick to ask for a review but slow to return the £150, which I had to ask for. Also, some of the UHT milks were out date - so check them - and on check out you have to strip all the beds and take out all your rubbish - self-catering at its best.
This property is located in a quiet location and is ideal for hikes and a chance to get away from the city. The shower was excellent and there is plenty of free parking. There was tea and coffee provided and the kitchen was fully equipped. Apparently the village is the highest in Scotland - meaning lots of fresh air.

United KingdomWe loved our all too brief stay at Rowan Cottage. It's a bit out of the way from everything, but the beautiful. view made up for that. And a gorgeous interior, fulfilling our every need for comfort and the shower is fantastic. Would warn future guests that the the outside was swarmed by midges in the evening , but that's the only downside. It was such a treat to wake up to the misty hills/mountains of one of the must stunning views we've seen

United KingdomWe were two older couples and found going up and down the stairs quite worrying as no handrail especially when taking the cases up and down and also bringing the bedclothes downstairs to bathroom as we were asked to do before leaving the property. We usually find Booking.com very easy to use but in this case there was too much admin involved - having to fill in preregistration form with info about the 4 of us and the two overseas visitors had to fill in addresses, passport numbers and visa numbers. We also had to pay £150 returnable deposit.
The location and the close proximity to the pub where we had a lovely meal.
