Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything that I didn’t like, I did see a previous review that mentioned no ensuite but we did have our own bathroom across the landing so that wasn’t a problem at all.
Elizabeth Ann is a fabulous host, from the moment we arrived she took time and care to settle us into her beautiful home. All the bedrooms are large, warm, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with lovely views of either the garden or the woodland. The bed, pillows and bedding are of exceptional quality and very comfortable. There was everything in the room we could possibly require iron, ironing board, plenty of electrical sockets and a good selection of teas, coffees and biscuits. In the morning we went down for breakfast and there was a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juice. The hot breakfast was excellent cooked perfectly with fresh local produce and there was plenty of it, enough to keep you going all day. I hope we do get back to Scaurbridge House and Elizabeth Ann one day soon.

Elizabeth Ann is a very welcoming and kindly host who only wants to make sure that you're comfortable. She was very happy and gracious in accommodating my requirement to eat a carry out in the dining room and she also provided some delicious home baking 😋 The houses and rooms have a great character and warmth. I'd highly recommend Scaurbridge House.

United KingdomThe room was very quiet as no TV or radio for a bit of background noise. It was nice in a way not to have a TV as we relaxed with reading etc however a radio on quietly would be nice but I guess that's our personal choice.
Amazing house, owners couldn't do enough for you and the food was amazing! Norman greeted us on arrival and showed us round and made sure we had everything we needed and helped us carry bags to our room. Our dog was also made very welcome and was given sausage at breakfast which went down a treat! They used local produce for breakfast, which was fantastic. We didn't even manage to eat some of the jams and compote that they had made as the full Scottish Breakfast was enough for us but they did put alot of effort in to what they were providing for guests. Breakfast was served at a large table with other guests which was lovely as got chatting to the other guests about things that probably wouldn't have talked about in every day life. All in all we had a lovely weekend there and will definately return. I would class this place as good old fashioned Scottish hospitality.

The facilities were top notch . The bed most comfortable sleep I have ever had. A hidden gem in South West Scotland in the village of Penpont. Such elegance and fantastic breakfast. Tranquility in abundance. . I felt in a time capsule with the greatest of company. 100% sheer heaven.
