Homely place with a kind, thoughtful host

    • King Room with Garden View

Screen for shower over bath could perhaps be fixed in place otherwise have to be quite careful when showering, but not a major problem.

Homely place with a kind, thoughtful host. Comfortable room with a good amount of storage space for unpacking. Kettle etc provided for tea/coffee with fresh milk provided each day. The breakfast is continental with fresh berries and croissants, very nice. We had the King room with en-suite and while there is a window with a garden view it does not have a terrace as specified on booking.com (the host messaged us beforehand to tell us this and that she is trying to change it on booking.com). Parking is included and is at the village hall a few minutes walk up the road (parking permit provided) but you can unload on the road next to the property.

Nothing really. Ask Jan about the easiest road out of the village.

We liked it very much here. The house is cosy and full of interesting things. Our room was a good size with a super king bed which was very comfortable. Breakfast was Continental and plentiful. The location is in a quiet pretty village with an excellent restaurant at the Thurlestone Inn where the staff are lovely and friendly. Jan is an excellent host full of fascinating stories and extremely welcoming and warm. It’s a quiet restful place with easy access to all areas for visiting.

Jan is a wonderful host! The B&B is clean, comfortable bed, great en-suite and overall perfect for my stay. A lovely breakfast, great location close to Thurlestone Village centre, highly recommend. Good value.

A cosy, comfortable B&B. The ensuite room had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Jan is a welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, lovely host. Guest parking is a very short walk away. The B&B is perfectly located for coastal walks and beaches, with nice pubs serving good food nearby.

The location was beautiful, our host was very friendly and helpful giving us plenty of good advice. There are beautiful beaches nearby. A very romantic walk to Bantham Beach was our favourite. Generally, it is a perfect location for various walks and excursions in beautiful Devon.

The breakfasts were excellent, including catering for special dietary requirements for one of us. The owner was particularly helpful. We visited the beaches at Thurlestone and Bantham Bay - both excellent for grandchildren. We also went to Longtimber Woods in Ivybridge - ancient, semi-natural woodland located alongside the River Erme, opportunities for wildswimming and paddling.

Whilst it didn't present us with an issue, our bathroom was down the corridor. There was little chance of bumping into anyone enroute.

We loved the hostess, she was welcoming and caring without being invasive! The location suited us well, we were able to walk to where our friends lived. The breakfast was as requested and the view from upstairs was lovely, however not everybody would be able to negotiate the stairs up. The room was clean, comfortable and homely. The bed comfortable, pillows perfect for us ; not too soft nor hard. Bedside tables and lights were provided. There was an abundance of delightful quirky artefacts displayed, wonderful for conversation and curious minds.! Tea and coffee making facilities were available with fresh milk provided daily. The television was a good size although we weren’t in to view! There were easy chairs available. Plenty of electric points for appliances and device charging. The bathroom was clean , offered everything required, nice hot shower and plenty of towels. Car parking at the Village Hall just up the road.

Great and very calm location, offering lovely walks around the beaches. Burgh Island is very close. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I loved the decoration. The host is lovely and very helpful; we had nice chats at breakfast and as well some laughs. The resident springer spaniel Gaston was great fun, too. It all gave our 3 nights stay a lovely family atmosphere. My dog loved it so much she almost refused to leave :-)

Myself and my wife stayed at Jan‘s place for 5 nights in July. The location is quiet and our room was spacious and very comfortable. Jan was a great host giving us plenty of tips for restaurants and places to visit. Parking, although not possible outside the house, is not a problem as there is a free community car park very close. It‘s a great base for both coastal walks and visiting towns such as Dartmouth, Salcombe, Totnes, etc. Can recommend.

Super location in a beautiful little village. Lovely traditional B&B vibe. Very comfortable and homely with everything you need - a lovely lounge area to relax and very comfy bed in the room. Nice touches like being able to make tea in the room with fresh milk. Jan is a delightful host, so friendly and helpful. It's a beautiful area, you can walk to various beaches and there are many countryside walks to enjoy. Good dinning locally in the village as well. Highly recommend!
