Staff were very young albeit some very good at their job, whilst we were having a relaxing drink in the bar 3 x staff members were verbally abusive about other staff members using foul language during their conversion, clearly heard too! Not very professional

Room was fine if a little tight for 3 of us. Fabric headboard appeared to have bits scratched out of it. Could do with replacing.

We had a double room, but it was very small, more like the size a single bed should be in. The hotel could do with an update

Strong smell of mould in our room. Hotel is very tired, dead flowers on the dining table just about summed it up.

Really nice stay and the hotel is very convenient to the Pentland ferry to Orkney (at Gills Bay).

The room looked tired & was small. There was no remote for the tv & the hose for the shower head was broken. The shower head kept falling off its handle. The bathroom floor looked shabby - it could have been the concrete finish, or it needed re-tiling. The tv was tiny! Needed binoculars to view it. My laptop was bigger. For the price, we expected a bit better.

The dinner at the restaurant was awesome!

Spirit based drinks at the bar seemed weak and on a Tuesday evening they shut the bar at 10:20pm despite 5-6 people in there having a drink and chatting away happily. Odd.

Room a tad stuffy, minimal airflow through a smallish room window which faced a wall ...but not tragic....

Staff were great, comfy bed, dated but spotless room, wasn't expecting such an excellent evening dining experience, but super tasty menu dishes, service superb.... brilliant breakfast to start the next leg of the NC500.

The standard double room was very small and the windows are just facing a wall. Felt a bit claustrophobic. But all facilities are there. So just a compromise I guess.

Property itself is a bit conjusted in terms of space of rooms. But the facilities are there. Staff are nice and polite. Food is great.

4pm check in and 10am check out is a bit out of the normal. Making a booking time for breakfast is also unusual, normally there is a cut of time for ordering. Should allow for a gratuity option on card payments so staff can be recognised for the good service which we received during dinner.

The hotel and the room really need a re fresh and update old stained carpets, old thin curtains that don't keep out the light. Holes and dirt marks all over walls. The pictures of the room looked lovely but do not reflect the tired worn outdated surroundings. I just felt for 171 for a night it didn't feel like I got what I paid for.

The views were amazing and the staff were friendly

Bad lighting in room, difficult for hair and makeup. One main light not working. Curtains hardly covered window so woken by early morning light
