We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI reported the shower door and shower mechanism stiff to Matt - he stated he was aware and was going to address this. The mattress on the double bed was not great however it did not stop us sleeping.
A beautiful cottage everything was in it you could wish for. The cottage was in a beautiful setting with access to the owners garden which was beautifully maintained. The cottage was on a small holding with animals - chickens, ducks, donkeys, horses, goats, pigs and sheep which the owner (Matt) kindly let my grandson (age9) feed. This was an added bonus to the holiday which gave him much delight. The cottage was about an hour away from many interesting places/walks/waterfalls/aeroplanes which we all enjoyed. I would have no hesitation in booking again. My questions regarding the property were answered quickly and it was nice to have a person to ask anything particularly regarding the area.

United KingdomThe cottage is beautiful and was spotlessly clean. The location is perfect, completely peaceful, there are no traffic sounds, no light pollution and amazing views across open countryside and hills. We had the added bonus of snow which made our stay even more magical. The owners made us feel more than welcome and were very friendly and helpful. We loved meeting the animals, especially the donkeys who are very sweet and friendly. We 100% would like to go back it was a lovely memorable birthday get away for me.

United KingdomWe returned to Sheep Dip Cottage for a 3 night stay. The cottage is immaculately maintained, loads of room, the beds very comfortable! The hot tub was amazing. We loved seeing the animals especially the goats and donkeys. A very quiet and peaceful break away. We did not want to go home, will be returning soon. Max the dog enjoyed himself on the field having a run around off his lead, that certainly tired him out.

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like.
The cottage was comfortable and cosy. It was private and lots of farm roads to get there to make you feel you are away from everything, really peaceful. The hot tub was lovely and enjoyed being out in the countryside. The cottage was dog friendly and my dog settled in well and loved getting off lead at the front paddock and the area through the gardens. The animals were really friendly, nice little cats wandering around but they kept clear as my dog was in the garden. The horses, sheep, chickens and pigs were all lovely to see. The donkeys kept to themselves. The cottage was clean and very well kept. There was a lovely welcome basket, with farm eggs, crisps, chocolate and biscuits. That was such a great touch. Wish we had booked a longer stay. We were there for 4 nights. We will hopefully be back.

We had a lovely 3 night stay. Beautiful cottage. My daughter absolutely loved getting up close to the animals and even fed one of the lambs. Such friendly owners. Nice little walk around the farm and garden. Also enclosed area so we could let our dog off the lead. Everything you need in kitchen, bathroom. Handy having honesty shop as we forgot milk. Lovely eggs provided, we also bought more and home made jam as we left. Hot tub a welcome treat after days out exploring.

Lovely property in a super location. The host had thought of everything you could possibly want, including an airer which was useful for the extra towels used for the hot tub! Very thoughtful treats left for our arrival too. Super nice to have access to an EV charger too. Loved it 👍

United KingdomWe found the cottage a bit to warm. We did totally turn the heating off and just used the wood fire. But we do live in a old house that is cold. So is likely just a issue with us.
The cottage was lovely and spacious with everything you need. The garden at the front was handy with being able to let the dogs out in the morning as well. While the hot tub is in the front, you have privacy bamboo around it and it’s tucked into the corner so well hidden from view. We absolutely loved the log fire. Only bad point, and i think it’s more that we live in a old building, is we were really hot. I’m not sure if the thermostats work or what but going to bed at night was really warm. The kitchen had everything you need utensil wise along with salt and pepper. The views are spectacular. Our dogs sat by the window and watched the world go by. Our border loved watching everyone get on with the farm chores. And we were all very sad to leave! The roads around were a little daunting for us at first, but we were soon wizzing around and explored. There is a little town around 7 miles away with a fish and chip shop, spar, Chinese, takeaway and pub, and then a Tesco ect about 15 miles away. There is a little honesty farm shop on site, with long life milk, toothpaste ect along with meat from the farm and fresh eggs. Lots of knitted items and needle felted items made by the farm owners, aswell as handmade bits and bobs from locals (soaps, sculptures ect) and I did come back with a few items every time I went to get logs haha! All the prices were brilliant as well. We did also use the ev charging, it’s a simple QR code and the app will charge you £40, and then refund what you didn’t use the following day. The whole holiday was low contact which we liked, but anything we needed to know was in the welcome book. Lots of walks around, we found a little pocket park along the river with beautiful views when you get to the top of the “mountain”, a lake with waterfalls, although we went on a very windy and rainy day which was a little silly on our part, so we had to turn back. We also went down to the coast.

United KingdomThis is not a criticism in no way shape of form. However, do keep in mind that this is more of a place to relax rather than travel to other areas. Perfect for a winter break.
The cottage has a good variety of bounds to sit and relax in. Nice open views of the fields ahead. The previous time we visited, a time in a hot tub was at an extra cost. This time, the hot tub was included within the cost and you have your own personal hot tub. And wonderful for little ones as there are farm animals in close proximity.

United KingdomThere was nothing I can complain about everything about sheep dip was just perfect!
The property had every last detail covered! It was clean and homely with Christmas decorations and a tree for the Christmas period. We strained to a small hamper which was a lovely gesture and the honestly shop was a real treat with books and games to borrow while you stay! It was also dog friendly so that was a real plus for us!
