Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNoise from the road in the cottage rooms was quite loud, although it didn't particularly bother me, there was no aircon, so you have to have the window open at night if it's warm and the desk fan provided was broken. The walls though, are not particularly soundproofed well and sound was very clear coming from neighbouring rooms. The free internet was good but was patchy. Accessibility could also be an issue for some needing to go in the main building rooms upstairs, as there didn't appear to be a lift available (old building though, so understandable it may not be possible to have one). None of these issues affected me greatly, I had a very enjoyable stay and hope to return soon.
Was given a small double cottage room, was clean and comfortable with cosy decor. Selection of tea, coffee and biscuits provided were welcome. Great, large walk-in shower room. Breakfast was very good, a good selection of hot and cold self-serve items and some available to be cooked to order. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, including the lovely night porter who helped me check in fuss-free, after a late evening arrival.

United KingdomBreakfast coffee from the urn is exceptionally weak. The Verderers' court is rather dark and is in need of redecoration. The fish in the "fish'n chips" was more batter than fish. The Reception area needs a rethink.
The bar was efficiently managed, the Orangerie/y was a pleasant place to have dinner. Some serving staff in the Orangerie were exceptional. Appreciated the visitors' friendly dogs!

United KingdomThe road noise. Our room was on the road side. The lamps on the bedside tables were very dusty and the bathroom, though clean overall could do with a clean around the toilet pan. The room was otherwise fine.
Staff were lovely, so kind and helpful. Beds very comfy. The location was excellent - the forest being right at the door of the hotel. The food and service were also of a high standard. We had a really nice stay.

United KingdomOnly a couple of minor things. There could have been more fruit at breakfast, and I would have preferred freshly made coffee.
All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food at dinner was excellent. there was a problem with our shower, and it was immediately dealt with very effectively.

United KingdomWe would have liked a larger room, but had to book a ‘cosy’ room to get a free standing shower. All other rooms had the shower over the bath, an impossibility for us, and I would think many elderly visitors. (We have found this a common problem when trying to book a hotel) The garden was great, but needs more comfortable chairs at the tables!
The hotel had a very welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. The food in the formal restaurant was exceptionally good, and the all- day service in the Orangery very useful for guests needing to eat at different times according to travel plans, as well as being a very comfortable and airy space- a relief in the very hot weather we experienced.

United KingdomThe coldness of bedrooms. No biscuits were in our room, though my daughter had them in her room.
That dogs are allowed inside with us to eat. Its quirkiness and the courtyard rooms with our dog, but we did need the electric heaters on as the rooms were so cold initially.
