Looking for a stop over on our way back up North after problems on M6 . This stop was an experience rather than a stop over . We loved it .

The grounds at the back were nice. It was comfortable and very roomy. The instructions on how to find the place provided beforehand were very helpful. Our late check in was accommodated.

The person on reception was also running the bar so it took a long wait to get drinks each time. Our room was at the back of the property in a very run down area. Our steaks for dinner were very watery and tasteless. Staff were very friendly but quite forgetful.

We stayed in a large room with two beds which overlooked the grounds. Amazing views, really comfortable bed, spacious bathroom. Restaurant was exceptional. Lovely grounds wonderfully kept.

The Western approach is the best path to access the property, we didn't know when we first arrived and took another one which turned out to be very bumpy. Property could be better signposted but that didn't detract from the fact that it was an exceptional stay.

The house itself is full of grandeur with a really impressive entrance and foyer. Large grand rooms with marble fireplaces and an en-suite as big as dome bedrooms in other hotels.

As I remember, it was a classic English breakfast. I do remember the poached eggs were done quite nicely. The grounds were exceptional, though it had just rained so we were unable to really enjoy them.

Entry and exit to the property was a bit difficult, or rather confusing as to whether we came in from the service entrance or not. It was very pothole-ridden and rough.

The house is set in a beautiful location with fabulous gardens.

There were a few things. Needs deep cleaning, paintwork was not clean in our bedroom also lots of dust on furniture in communal areas. Poor menu choice for dinner three choices for starter and mains. Found a very poor continental choice for breakfast. Boxed cereals or yoghurt which isn’t really great when you are paying so much for a room. Another issue was the smell of smoke from the bio mass puffing out day and night. It got into the bedroom which we found unpleasant.

A great chance to stay in a beautiful stately home at a great price.

Breakfast, whilst of decent quality, was quite a slow drawn out process which could be made much quicker. Its not helped by the kitchen being a long way away from the dining room

Kettle was broken in our room but apart from that it was great thank you.

The house has been converted to a hotel with luxurious and comfortable rooms. The views of the grounds are the show stealer though!! We’ve visited many times and are never disappointed. The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be.

Needed an overnight stay along the motorway and Springkell was just perfect. Booked at 8pm at night, arrived past midnight outside the check-in times. Great and quick communication to make it possible. The beautiful grounds gave us a break from the motorway and the room had everything we needed. Very comfy bed and spacious bathroom.

Stunning building and grounds. The restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was of great quality and perfectly cooked. The room was spacious and had a huge bathroom. Perfect for our overnight stay travelling from Scotland.

    There was nothing to dislike.

Large, well-appointed bedroom with brilliant view. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful, extensive grounds. Attentive, friendly, helpful staff. Dog friendly.

Portion of main course for dinner would have benefited from a larger selection of vegetables.
