Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe shower was really small but they're utilising the space they have. It wasn't a powerful shower and went cold a couple of times whilst in there. Not a deal breaker.
Room is finished tastefully - lovely welcome tray upon arrival. Has everything you need in the room. Location is great. The owners are really lovely. We had an early start so didnt have the breakfast but it looked lovely from what we saw. To have parking was great. Having a self service check-in was really useful as we were out until late in Looe.

United KingdomNothing. Apart from the biblical downpour during the night, but that was quiet exciting!
A really lovely room with all mod cons in a great location, just by the train station. We chose a continental breakfast but there was so much variety on offer of such great quality that a full English wasn't missed at all. Best of all was the wonderful hostess, who despite juggling managing the property with looking after a newborn child, was one of the friendliest and helpful hosts we have ever met. Thank you!

AustraliaWe loved everything about the Captain’s House. It’s an easy walk into the town and the rooms were lovely with extremely comfortable beds. Everything is provided including tea/coffee plus some extra treats. There was a great selection for breakfast and it was all really tasty. The staff were friendly/helpful and made us feel very welcome. Parking was also available on site.

United KingdomEverything was just perfect. We didn't want for anything.
The Captains House was just a 10 minute stroll into town and the beach. The B & B has its own parking which was a big bonus for us. The room had everything we needed and was spotless. The host John was great and even left us a mini bottle of prosecco with glasses filled with chocolates and a bottle of water in the room. The complimentary continental breakfast was lovely and it was good to know that there was the option of a cooked breakfast if we had wanted it.

United KingdomWe loved it all! The breakfast looked beautiful a great variety but unfortunately I struggle to eat with people I don't know and the breakfast is seated as a large table for all guests. However don't let that put you off! It really did look beautiful & I honestly can't give a single negative about this place!
The accommodation was beautiful, the bedroom was modern and very pretty! It had everything you could possibly need for your stay! down to shower caps and a sewing kit! The bottle of prosecco and chocolates on arrival was a lovely touch! Kathryn and Richard couldn't do enough for you, so warm and welcoming and genuinely lovely people! We had an amazing stay for our honeymoon and we would definitely recommend it to family and friends! The destination is perfect too, we are new to Cornwall holidays and wow what have we been missing! The captains house is a perfect location, a short walk into Looe and the train station is only at the bottom of the street if you're traveling via train or don't fancy driving to visit other destinations. we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are hoping to be back soon!

AustraliaBe aware there isn't a lift, so if you have trouble climbing stairs, you may want to think about staying here.
Close to shops, pubs and amenities. Easy drive to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock. Kathryn the owner was brilliant. So full of fun and nothing was too much trouble. .Would definitely recommend

It was very beautiful and the welcome pack of Prosecco and chocolates was so lovely. The owners were incredibly friendly and kind and helpful. The shower was amazing and the bed was really comfortable. We had the cooked breakfast which was very yummy but the choice in the continental breakfast was very wide ranging.
