Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

• A difficult start confirming reservations with staff who kept changing so bookings were lost or overwritten. This was finally overcome by my THIRD physical visit to ensure everything was confirmed. • The unreliability of the booking process, but perhaps that was just bad timing as they were changing over their communications system and had no functioning internet or telephone for at least a week - but with NO information that this was happening on their website. Physical visits were very necessary to ensure my arrangements stayed on track. Hopefully those problems have been overcome now. My advice is if you are making a booking, double check before arrival, by phone direct with the hotel.
Rooms were good, and the attention to detail that I provided was very good and greatly appreciated. We had a wonderful dinner for twelve in the evening with good food, followed by excellent breakfast. Thank you. Lovely courtyard gardeen to sit out in and have a drink before dinner. I would recommend staying here, the current manager (my third and last contact), Katie, was extremely helpful. Waiting staff at dinner were also very helpful. Great atmosphere and very interesting medieval buildings.

The room needed some updating. The chest of drawers was missing 3 handles, the blinds didn't stay up without windows being open to purch them on, two of the windows had cracked glass with another pane boarded over.
The best feature of this pub was the staff. I can't recall the last time I felt so attended to and we stayed on a Saturday night of a bank holiday weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were all polite and friendly. The pub itself was lovely, well decorated with a lovely courtyard too. The room was fine, clean and the bed was comfy.

The doves inside on window ledge!! It was very warm so had window open a small bit. There was signage to close windows when going out, which we did.
Beautiful building and surroundings. Great family room set up. Very spacious, clean and friendly.

Breakfast was superb ;very tasty and more than enough. plenty of choice and vegetarian English. Also loved the fruit and yoghurt. Location was excellent for where we wanted to visit. Very close to Burford and Burford Garden centre, which was huge./

The building is VERY old, which comes with issues such as size of ensuite and noise. We could hear the diners downstairs very clearly and the hall door outside our room banged loudly. But I expected all of that due to the historical building. But i could see it might bother people not used to old buildings. Once dinner was over the noise was negligible.
Loved the location, the staff, the food, the building is gorgeous. It’s family owned and run and you can see the love and hard work they’ve put in. Chef (Dad) coming out to talk to each table of diners was a lovely touch and Bertie the dog is a handsome addition in the bar after dinner! Breakfast was perfect. I could have stayed forever!

Fabulous hotel. I took some colleagues from Germany who stayed in the Deluxe Double rooms and were really impressed. Food in the restaurant was well priced and exceptional too. Would definitely recommend
