Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content

- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Room too warm, but we appreciate it's an old building and it was also a very hot summer weekend.
Staff are very friendly. The quality of restaurant food is very good & at excellent value. The vegan option was very tasty.

Very dated and could use some thorough cleaning. Mould in the bathroom and dust all over the room. Mystery yellow stain on the wall next to the toilet dust everywhere, black smudges on the mirrors and stain on the bed sheet that looked suspiciously like vomit that had not come out in the wash. Big health and safety risk when going to room opened the corridor door and it was near darkness no light on and no motion sensor. 2 steps down to the room floor could have easily been missed. We managed to find a light switch but this should have been on. Especially since the only window is at the opposite end of the corridor to the stairs. Due to old plumbing any time someone used the toilet or had a shower in the next room you could hear the pipes creaking as if it was in the room with you.
Amazing staff very welcoming and friendly. Great restaurant and bar. Location excellent.

More lighting and exlectris sockets in bedroom
Staff were very friendly, the building has loads of character, good parking and excellent dog walks close by. Restaurant is good and breakfast excellent.

It was clean but very old and tired. A little refresh wouldn’t go amiss.
The beds were comfortable and the shower was very good. We had both dinner and breakfast, both of which were great. Staff were brilliant, polite, friendly and attentive.

The cleanliness throughout left a little bit to be desired the carpet on the stairs, and landing didn't look like it had been vacuumed in weeks, the room itself, the door didn't close properly because it was loose on its hinges there was a small hole in the ceiling, toilet seat wasn't fitted correctly it was to one side and the towel heater was rusty and again had not been cleaned to stop it rusting, the mattress was so uncomfortable we could feel the springs coming through it. the pub and restaurant toilet were dirtyand the one in the restaurant had cobwebs all over the ceiling and walls We were not impressed at all with the function room being close to our room and an 18th birthday party blasting out till midnight, we should have been WARNED about this prior to booking or at least offered a room away from the function room as the hotel wasnt that busy, we are a couple who like our early nights. The restaurant itself was the best part of the hotel, if the rest of the hotel was decorated and clean like this it would be very nice, we appreciate that there's lots of competition in this small town for accommodation and making a viable business must be hard, but it is not expensive to decorate and clean to a reasonable standard and provide a comfortable mattress.and pillows
The staff were very welcoming,friendly and helpful the food in the restaurant was very good we ate there on both nights because of this, the breakfast was also good, if the hotel was as good as its staff it would be brilliant.

Electric sockets not positioned close enough to use lamp on bedside cabinet. This was in double bedroom of junior suite no 21
Very clean and very comfortable with free parking .Excellent choice of breakfast foods well presented and tasty served by Doreen and her lovely staff. Doreen is a star and could not do enough for you. Everyone needs a Doreen.

We are mature cyclists slowly travelling the length of the UK. This was one of five hotels visited on this chunk of the journey. We received friendly service and enjoyed our stay.

We arrived soaking wet having just been on cycle route 7 all day. Nothing was too much trouble. We even had a separate room for our bikes. Comfy warm room & a nice restaurant to go to in the evening.

Background noise made for poor sleep. There were fridges/ coolers under my room which hummed constantly. My other choice was no better with an annoying noise in the hall and trafic outside. The night before a sporting event it is very important to get a good nights sleep. We left at 7am so breakfast wasn’t available.
