For three days were laundry bags directly in front of my room/ door. The light in the bathroom didn’t work and the towels were damaged. Difficult to reach someone from the staff.

Staff were virtually non-existent. Reception & entry required the making of a local phone call. As an overseas visitor, I had no local phone. I was not provided a door entry code or other access information prior to arrival. I was eventually let into the premises by a passing cleaner. Later, after a subsequent day out, the door entry code I had been given by another resident no longer worked on my return. It had been changed after I went out. So I was locked out a second time. The lights in the windowless bathroom were not working & were still not working when I left after 4 days. The shower head dangled on the base of the shower cubicle, lacking a bracket to hold it. Handle on tap broken. The carpets were stained & dirty & in need of a thorough cleaning.

Stinks of weed, dodgy people all over the place. noisy all night, fixtures and fittings very neglected - don't expect clean or good condition. Seriously it is what it is - a room to sleep the beer off and leave early.

I use this place as somewhere to crash after a few beers with a mate. As far as that goes it's functional. Bring your own bog roll and you should be ok. Don't plan on a shower.

I didn’t have a remote to operate tv contacted member of staff still didn’t receive. The room wasn’t very clean bin in bathroom needed emptying no toilet roll holder, the carpet wasn’t clean the wall hadn’t been painted properly I’m only complaining as I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s been ok this time it felt like a hostel/shelter people sitting around on the stairs

Did not see a staff member it was all done by phone. No heating in room, taps loose in bathroom, window broken letting cold air in and could not get any hot water out of shower.

Bar/restaurant was closed, shower was freezing cold and mouldy, bedroom window had no handle so couldnt shut it to block out all the arguing outside in the middle of the night. No parking, pot luck to find a street without permit parking

Checkin was difficult and onerous (over the phone with someone who only spoke slurred English). In the bathroom there was no toilet paper, no hot water (cold showers only!) and no mirror (anywhere in the room or bathroom!) The place was also riddled with fleas and the staff were extremely difficult to understand (even for someone who has lived in the region for 20 years!)

There was only one bulb partly working out of the 3. The shower door wouldn't close which meant water was all over the floor. The shower handle needs replacing as was full of limescale and only water was coming out of some parts.

The chair needs a new one. The black stuff of the chair will stick on our clothes and scattered on the floor. The shower cubicle needs a good cleaning 🧹 . Thank you Douglas hotel .

Toilet wouldn’t flush properly, there was a whole in the ceiling of the bathroom, a mark on the bathroom floor that looked like someone had done a number 2, floor wasn’t cleaned, bedding had stains on and bedroom window was broken

This review is hidden because it doesn't meet our guidelines.

Everything could have been better, but it's a property to which no attention has been paid. You get the bare-bones of a service, if you could call it a service at all. It's not in a great part of town, but if getting a cheap room is your objective, this will do that.

The hotel was a no-frills place. There were no visible staff and no attempt to brighten the decor; no investment in the property and none to make you feel welcome. It was basically a flop house and it was cheap. If saving money is your main reason, then this will do it; a room, a bed and a bathroom is what's on offer here, nothing more and nothing less.

Strangely we didn’t actually meet or see any staff (apart from the cleaner who let us in) so never obtained the WiFi code, or were unable to ask for an extra cup for our room ( we only had one in a twin room ) Only half a toilet roll in the bathroom which could have caused us an issue (it didn’t though )

We managed to book in early as the rooms were ready, room was clean and comfortable Good location for the town and the football ground
