Unfortunately, as we walked to our room, the stable rooms, the side of the building is very run down, broken windows, paint peeling, not very aesthetically pleasing, the stable rooms however, externally, stunning, but there were multiple spiders and cobwebs in the room when we arrived indicating it may not have been stayed in / cleaned for a while, there were marks / stains all over the walls and door frames, TV Bracket but TV was stood up, light brackets but no lights, looked like a soap dispenser had been removed from the tiles in the bathroom but the glue was still in place and getting mouldy, bits of mould in the bathroom, the beds were very uncomfortable and noisy, I could hear the person above me moving around in there bed and anytime they walked around I could hear them, I could even hear them coughing, so i didnt get much sleep. We had an evening meal, then the next morning we sat in the same area (we had children with us and it was out the way), the carpet had not been hoovered / swept, the poppadoms (accidentally) dropped by the children the night before were still there even a tag from a toy one of the children had was still there.

The price of the room was very reasonable. When we arrived at the hotel, the initial look of the hotel is beautiful and grand, lovely grounds and the staff very lovely!! Very pleasant, attentive and helpful. There was also a fan in my room, It was a very hot day so greatly appreciated! Also large coffee cups, I love a large coffee on a morning. Very spacious room, especially the bathroom. The food was delicious! We chose from the Indian menu for our evening meal and had a full English before we left and it was perfect!

Staff were helpful, polite, friendly and efficient. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Lovely big window. Evening meal was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Nice old hotel, set back from the road, in pleasant grounds and a useful location. Overall good value.

The warm and friendly staff. They fed us when we arrived late and the kitchen was closed. Much appreciated. We also had a delicious Indian meal in the restaurant the following evening. Good value and generous portions!

The rooms were very outdated and not the cleanest. The beds were hard with only one pillow each. The room we stayed in was directly under the creakiest floor boards so we didn’t get much sleep.

The restaurant is lovely. Breakfast was delicious and good value for money. The staff are exceptional - very friendly and will do anything to help. Location is good. Good value for money for our stay.

As above … I didn’t like having to go around the back of the hotel in the dark to come in the back way after 11pm . It was a bit daunting but my daughter was with me . We struggled with the key and it was quite eerie coming in with no one there . The room was quite dark and could do with a revamp .

The breakfast was really nice but there were no choices and no cereals or toast for afterwards. It was quite pricey for a plate of food bought to the table. It was nice and we did get juice with it and coffee so it was reasonable for £12.99 . When I booked it said breakfast was £7,99 . There wasn’t a choice for the eggs it came with fried . The service was excellent.

The Elms was ideal for our short one-night stay. The rooms and common areas were very clean and the staff were extremely welcoming. Breakfast was good value and tasty. Although the property and decor are long overdue a refurbishment, you really can't fault the accommodation at the price point.

Weird, loud buzzing noise at night. No aircon - it was ok when we stayed but a day or two before we showed up, the temperatures were high and lack of aircon would've mattered (there was a fan). Bathroom could do with a refresh - it's starting to show it's age.

My second stay here. Both times it was adequate. Location is ok when visiting our friend, and the price won't break the bank.

The room was really hot. One window would not open and although there was a fan, there were hot water pipes going behind the bed that added to the heat. We were given a key to access a door after hours, Unfortunately it did not work and we only got in because we met some other guests at half past midnight in the car park whose key did work.

We can hardly blame the hotel for our room being very warm when we stayed on one of the hottest nights of the year (so far!). No air conditioning, but our room was equipped with an electric fan that enabled us to sleep.

Comfortable bed for the night, notwithstanding the heat (see below), with an en suite bathroom that although a little "tired" was perfectly serviceable. The restaurant was excellent, as was the breakfast, and both were very reasonably priced. The staff were universally friendly and helpful, making our stay a real pleasure from start to finish - knocked the spots off another stay in one of the big chain hotels!

Very creaky floorboards, so you did hear people coming and going down the hallway. Hairdryer should be standard in the room. They are available on request but wasnt aware of this so had already had a shower when I realised there wasnt one in the room so had to go back to reception in a different building which was later delivered to the room.
