A really lovely old 'local' pub with a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. The classical English breakfast was perfect and it was very convenient for getting to Dover the next morning.

We felt very welcome from the start. The owner and staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to our needs. The place has a lovely historic charm – staying in this old pub felt special and cozy. The food was delicious and clearly made with care. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it!

Location is good, but road can be busy (school run?). Proper locals pub , serving pub grub. No gentrification. But lively and welcoming. Good coffee too and lots of vegan/vegetarian options.

The furniture in the room was very dated, and our room was quite cold. The bed was comfy. The shower was good as well.

lovely helpful greeting on arrival, shown around and everything explained. Ate in restaurant had steak, was very good. Landlady is super helpful and super welcoming. breakfast was really tasty and good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good "local" feel to the pub. We had a superb meal. There was a quiz night on and while we didn't participate (good job as we would have come last) it was a fun evening. Breakfast was really great.

First of all, everything is so clean, it's the first thing I tend to look for when staying in hotels. The five bells was exceptional I must say. I found the bed very comfortable. The staff so helpful and friendly lots going on in the bar a real family fill to the bar area. A nice welcome even from the locals. I will most definitely be staying again. I have already recommended The five bells to friends and family. I look forward to my next stay.

Less convenient having no en-suite with one room but as we had exclusive use of the adjacent bathroom it wasn’t a problem.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking set aside for us which was helpful for when we arrived. Comfortable clean rooms, pub had a pleasant and welcoming family atmosphere. Great breakfast. Pancakes available as well as the usual cooked breakfast you’d expect. Very tasty! Quiet location so a good nights sleep was possible.

The staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They had even put out a couple of bollards to ensure that we would have a parking space at the side of the property, right next to the entrance, which we really appreciated. Our room was clean and cosy, and the bed was very comfy. We really appreciated being able to simply walk downstairs to the restaurant, where a table was set up and ready for us, and we enjoyed a tasty meal. Breakfast the following morning was delicious - with a wide variety of options on offer. Once again, staff were very friendly and attentive, making our stay at The Five Bells very pleasant and homely. We would happily recommend it to other visitors.

The private bathroom for the twin room is a short walk along the corridor next to the staff room/office so didn’t feel private.

Wish I could have stayed longer!

We visited as was attending a wedding just down the road and we are so glad we decided to stay here. Staff were incredible and really friendly. Happy to help with anything and give recommendations for the local area. Nothing was too much and would happily go the extra mile. This included the bartenders, chefs, housekeeping and managers. Everyone was passionate about working there and you could tell they all love their jobs. Food was delicious as well and really good portion sizes for the price. Thankyou all so much!

Our twin room had a little walk to the bathroom but that was no real issue.

Everyone working at the five bells were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. And the breakfast was delicious!
