We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThis property feels unloved. Its surface clean but I felt like I wanted to get my marigolds on and give it a good scrub. I found the previous occupants underwear in a drawer, there were black dog hairs in the living area/kitchen, the shower plug hole was blocked and the windows have been used as target practice by passing seagulls. It’s a shame because this property could be a little gem with just a little tlc.
This accommodation is ok for a few days away. The location is great - It’s at the top of the village with a short but steep walk down to the pubs and restaurants and a slower stroll back up.

Just at the edge of Port Isaac beautiful views and enclosed garden space

United KingdomThe upstairs bed is very uncomfortable, as was the sofa. The mattress and sofa need replacing. The bed was an old fashioned sprung (not pocket) mattress and I heard and felt every slight movement. The bed was large, but very uncomfortable in our opinions. If you're a poor sleeper or have aches and pains, this may not be for you. As others have said, the outside of the property needs more regular cleaning (birds and the seaside) but that's not critical, and bring toilet roll! Only one roll supplied. The shower doesn't drain well, but it was warm and powerful. We also had an issue with the sliding doors. We weren't very confident that they were secure, as a little wiggle from the locked position and they came undone! We finally got it locked and secure, but it took a long time. Tried to call the office on the first afternoon to report it, and no-one answered our three calls. Too many long and unnecessary emails prior to the visit from Sykes Cottages.
The location is fantastic. A short walk down into the port, a steep walk back up for those with mobility issues, but thankfully no problems for us. Restaurants and a co-op very close by. The Folly had good facilities, with big name appliances such as Bosch, AEG etc. Lots of cooking facilities, a large fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Plenty of kitchen storage. The Folly was very clean, and smelled beautiful when we arrived. The shower was warm and powerful. Big bedrooms and a great view from the room upstairs. It worked well for us on the whole, and with changes to the below, we'd stay again if we visited Port Isaac.

United KingdomThe instructions to find the house could be clearer - there are two private roads parallel that the post code leads you to, and they both have similar white houses at the end 'behind a gate' - one being a private residence who were kind enough to explain how to find the Folly on the next road up - they have clearly had to point others there too! There were a LOT of emails both through booking.com and all the same ones from the lettings company repeating all the same info multiple times which was unnecessary. In the house there is a heating unit that looks and sounds like a dishwasher which is on most of the time which is mildly annoying, but not enough to stop us staying here again if we wanted to revisit the same area, and it was good for the price. Yes, there was bird poo on the patio doors (others have complained), not sure there's much the lettings company can do about that honestly! And we found the bed very comfy - it's on the firm side.
The location is great, and the house very comfortable. It was as presented, not fancy, but totally fine for our needs as a family.

United KingdomThe settee needs replacing, its old and uncomfortable. The tvs are ridiculously small and need upgrading too. The one in the lounge is so small you can’t read any text on the screen!
The location was fantastic, the garden was perfect for the dog , the sea view to wake up to each day was amazing. The location was quiet and the garage was perfect to park the car. The fridge was large and the shower was powerful and functioned perfectly. The accommodation was clean and tidy.

United KingdomDirty, hadn’t been cleaned, drips of food and drink down the cupboard doors, rust and dusty radiators, plaster missing off the walls, cobwebs and spiders, the list goes on and on..
Location although impossible to find via satellite navigation. There are several properties in port Issac with the same name. Took us 2 hours to find, with the help of the locals.

United KingdomThere were so many things that could have been improved on. We have been spoiled in the past with welcome packs and more than 1 toilet roll. The step by the front door inside was broken, and a trip hazard, and the slate was thrown outside. The cover on the soakaway in shower was broken and the broken piece left on window sill. I do feel that properties should flag up the fact that it would not be suitable for people with mobility problems as there are so many steps. The access road was littered withs very deep potholes. Having mentioned all these things (only that they can be improved on) we enjoyed our time at the Folly.

United KingdomI did feel that a bit of reconfiguration would have added heaps to the property. it would have been nice to have sea views from the bed had it been facing the window. and sofa facing looking out too downstairs rather than facing the kitchen. Also thought actual hidden wardrobe space would have been welcome but that’s just being picky. I would stay here again but the 9.30am departure time for leaving I felt was way too early especially as we were a little under the weather and didn’t want to rush. Little hidden extras would have been nice, ie hand soap, bath gel etc.
The property is light and airy, and very comfortable, nicely situated with quick walk to harbour and pubs. Kitchen was very well equipped and having car parking was an added bonus. unfortunately it rained for most of our stay so didn’t really get full use of the patio. Overall cute and comfortable. The fact that books were supplied to list ideal places to visit etc came in very useful. Best seafood restaurant and pizza restaurant right on your doorstep.

Hong KongWe change from 3 persons into 2persons, they are unwilling to readjust the rate (whereas the one in St Ives could do this for us), feel the Folly focus on profit making. We had car accident, difficult wifi and phone call for help, I think the Sky cottage or John Blays are the middle man to take care of this property, thus they are unwilling to help late check out , the check out time is 9:30am too early, but on the check out date, after we check out, i just got an email for check out extend to our request, but too late . No hot water when taking bath. Try to book property direct contact with the host, the middle man made you crazy. Even when release my 200 deposit, have to ask me contact the middle man, i refused, I only know booking.com
Location, window on the top roof of the kitchen, very relax
