Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was only one mirror in the bathroom. I had to use the microwave as a mirror when I dried my hair, not ideal. Also, there was only one coat hanger available, so we bought a couple more.
The location was perfect. Very comfortable bed and good use was made of the space available. We coped very well with the paddle stairs, despite my initial concerns.

United KingdomStairs- very steep, half steps, no full hand rail on one sides, potentially dangerous especially down. Only suitable for nimble, slim guests 1 wineglass and tumbler-2 of each would be good. List of kitchen goods- mention coffee cafetieres, no oven etc
Central location.quiet residential area.cute property-impressed how they managed to fit things in Supply of tea, coffee, milk, towels- good feature

United KingdomMy only thought was.. replace the basin in the bathroom with a much smaller one- it may help for ease of movement a bit better :)
Really great property! Not all singing all dancing but absolutely perfect for a couple nights away! All facilities provided and lovely quirky cottage.

United KingdomA mirror upstairs would have been helpful. A coat hook downstairs would have been useful.

AustraliaI seemed to be only able to use one device on the wifi. I would have preferred two especially given how difficult it is to book taxis there.

United KingdomA bit grubby on the floor in places and while the stairs didn't bother us, it certainly makes it a bit tricky if you need the loo in the night, so you should be aware of it.
Had everything we needed and the hosts were extremely helpful before and during our stay. Super close to the Great Tythe Barn where we were at a wedding, so very convenient.

AustraliaThe stairs to the bedroom were very steep but as I wasn’t drinking during the weekend, I had no issues with it. I was fine with it but the road from the property up to the main area of town was very steep and would be difficult for older people not so steady on their feet.
A really lovely compact apartment with everything you need. Contact with the owners was very positive, guidance on the use of the place was very thorough. Bed was very comfortable. Heating was good( just used it a little to take the edge off the cool morning. I used the heating element provided to do some simple cooking.

United KingdomThe skirting boards in the bathroom were loose, could do with a bit of loving. But overall we loved the place and would definitely return.
Lovely little property, full of character. Great location, in center of town but tucked away and quiet. Comfy bed.

United KingdomCottage was even smaller than we thought it was going to be. OK for one night but too cramped for any longer. The stairs would be totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues as they were almost vertical. Small things missing, just one coat hanger, no mirror in the bedroom and all local attraction leaflets were very out of date.
Quiet. Clean.

United KingdomI know the description points some of this out but it is ridiculously small, it’s very difficult for a 6’ male to live around at all upstairs with banging your head on something.

United KingdomWe knew the property was small, but it was much smaller than anticipated, you couldn’t get in one side of the bed. The shower was very small. There was mould on the walls and skirting board was loose in the bathroom. The drive was vertically non existent and covered in weeds.
Location was good.

United KingdomThe facilities were very minimal and the shower was tiny and not much more than a drip.
The location was great for access to the Great Tythe Barn and there was loads of parking by the property.

United KingdomLots! 1. Parking space big enough only for Smart car or equivalent. 2. Nowhere to hang coats (why not a couple of hooks on the wall behind the front door?) 3. No coffee table to put coffee or a glass of wine on when sitting on sofa. 4. No TV (we only realised this too late); not even a radio. 5. Nowhere to put toiletries in bathroom (how about a shelf beside the basin). 6. No toilet roll holder!! 7. Nowhere to put shampoo/soap inside the shower cubicle. 8. Nowhere to put clothes in bedroom: no chest of drawers (though plenty of room for one) and only one dry-cleaner-style wire hanger (how much do plastic hangers cost?). 9. Only one bedside lamp (though two bedside units). 10. Sponge/scourer in kitchen was at least 3 months old and no spare. 11. Long-term stains on curtain, downstairs roller blind and both rugs (upstairs and downstairs). 12. Left handrail on stairs virtually useless (kept jamming fingers in it) and right handrail stopped halfway. 13. Someone else was putting rubbish in 'our' bins (including paper and cardboard in the black bin!) 14. Arrived to find puddle on bathroom floor; worked out where leak was coming from and put bowl under it; reported it and owner couldn't be bothered to fix it before we left (4 days later!). 15. Oh, and no toaster either.
Property was clean (but see below). Location good.

United KingdomVery cold, exposed brick and uncarpeted floor was quite tricky to hop around. Heaters were ok, but definitely needed to be on all day. It needs a bit of love, I understand paid for what we got, but I think simple things can be done to make it a tad more comfortable. It also smelt of dog / cigarettes when we arrived which was a shame for first impression. We actually didn't stay our second night in the end, just a bit too chilly for me.
Location was great, lucky we have a small car to fit on the cosy drive. Instructions were great prior arrival and we were able to check in a bit earlier.
