The website does warn about the noise, but I didn't realise just how noisy it would be. I was travelling with a child so in bed early and couldn't sleep due to pub noise, then noise of guests in room above until 1am, then woken at 5am by other guests, so I didn't sleep much.

The staff were all very friendly and polite. The room was spacious, clean and practical. I don't usually eat breakfast but saw good reviews so did, it was very good! Nice place to walk in the evening and early morning.

Small shower enclosure and the car park did get busy when the pub was busy, no special parking for residents.

Lovely room with good quality bed linen and towels. Great pub to stay in with food in the bar and good beer on tap. Quiet and interesting village only a couple of miles from the main road.

    The breakfast, see above.

The location was lovely but the breakfast was very poor. We didn’t want a cooked breakfast and apart from packets of cereal and brown and white sliced bread that was it….. no fruit, no yoghurts and no pastries i.e. croissants, pain au raisin etc.

Excellent food. My room faced the road and had a view of the castle; it contained lots of character (but uneven floors, as you'd expect). The staff were extremely helpful and even sorted me out with a charger plug to borrow, as I'd forgotten mine.

Reduce the price of food a bit and maybe a smaller portion, maybe I could have asked but I didn’t. I’m not a big eater but what I ate was delicious.

Breakfast and meal at night time was delicious, bed was very comfy and plenty of hot water, our shower was leaking so they upgraded our room, bath was lovely and again plenty of hot water. Very friendly staff.

The room had ample space and had coffee and tea making facilities. The bed had seen better days and I was pleased I only had to spend one night in it. The shower in the bathroom was none existent just a nozzle hanging over the bath taps, no curtain etc, which made life difficult and flooded the bathroom floor.

The evening meal was a bar snack and quality of food at breakfast was very good. Location was very scenic.

The mattress was a bit interesting with its exposed springs. We're guessing it had to be trimmed to fit a nonstandard bed. It was too soft for us, but others might like it. Personally I'd prefer a more regular bed with an uncannibalised mattress! It wouldn't stop us booking again, though.

    Accommodation was overall good.

My only negative comment is that people leaving the pub were quite loud and shouty which was a little annoying as we had to be up at 5am.

The location and the staff. Pretty village. The staff were really nice and made us sandwiches for our early start as we would be missing breakfast. They left them in the fridge for us. I do think the food was quite pricey.I had the fish sharing platter as a main and it was £17 but didn’t come with any bread - literally just a small amount of fish on a board. But then I had the cheese plate and that was really good value and was plentiful. Maybe I chose wrong - the fish was very tasty but just a bit small.
