Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBasic accommodation. This room had nowhere to put clothes and no tea making facilities, but was at the back so quieter

United KingdomDidn’t reply to my requests regarding availability of 2 beds rather than double (requirement for night before surgery.). When we arrived there was confusion about the booking, this did get resolved by the nice girl behind the bar in the pub below, but added unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation. Luckily my husband was admitted early for surgery so didn’t need to stay the night as my 2 bed request hadn’t been actioned and it was a double bed in the room.
Close to Kings Hospital and Denmark Hill train station. Stayed here as my husband was having surgery at Kings. Was helpful to have a base nearby for the days he was in hospital.

United KingdomTea or coffee weren't provided, and there wasn't enough shower gel for 2 people. But this didn't ruin the trip as we nipped out to the shops.
For the money, you can't go wrong. We went for a gig at the Brixton Academy and got taxi's to and from, which took about 15 minutes each way. There are some shops nearby which were handy. Shower was good.

United KingdomThe room was filthy, very dusty, and clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time. The bathroom light stayed on constantly, and light leaked through the cracks in the door, which was annoying at night. Communication was extremely poor – actually, non-existent. The mobile number provided was always switched off, and they didn’t reply to messages through BDC, email, or even their pub’s Facebook page. The rooms are above a pub. We stayed on the top floor, and while it got a little noisy on the weekend, it’s worth knowing the building is right next to a main road. You’ll hear a lot of traffic noise, including lorries and buses.
The location was good and easy to find. The room had lots of space. Nice shower.

United KingdomFirstly: you only find out about the room being above a pub after you book the room. Unfortunately, I booked a non-refundable rate (£126!) so I had no choice but to stick with it... Fortunately, it was quieter that I was expecting! When you try to contact the owner: by phone - goes straight to Voicemail, email - no one replies. You finally get to the room: only to see very dirty carpets, dust on bedside tables - plus other signs the room was not well cleaned... Door lock not working, but hoping that no one would attempt to open the door during the night 🙏 I would not recommend if you expect a bit more cleanliness. I would recommend if you really need a room near king's college hospital and are not staying for long... Very expensive for what offers.
Location, as this was the reason why I chose this property in the first place. On the second floor of a pub - but was quiet.

SwitzerlandThe room was functional at best. It's basically some rooms above a pub with a key code to get in. Nothing fancy but if you need a place to crash in the area it's fine - as long as you don't have high expectations.
Location was convenient for my needs. Carpet didn't look like it had been hoovered for a few weeks.

United KingdomThe hallways were unkempt and dirty. The picture on booking.com was nothing like the actual room, very basic, had to plug kettle into socket at floor level with kettle placed on the floor.
The room was warm and the bed comfortable. Johnathan was friendly enough.

United KingdomThe communal staircase and the showers are starting to show their age and maybe could do with a bit of a refresh to the paintwork, shower stall etc but the room was fine and the beds are lovely. In summer the rooms at the front a bit noisy cos you need the windows open but that’s normal in any city I think
Liz, the lady in the pub who checked me in and has done so on numerous other occasions is lovely and super helpful, kind and friendly and attentive. She even remembered stuff about me from previous stays which is really helpful. Like this stay I left the plug for my phone charger at home and she lent me a USB plug from the pub so I could charge it in my room👍🏻. Anything I asked her for she tried to provide and if she couldn’t she told me the best/easiest way of getting it elsewhere. Jonathan the manager is also very friendly and available if you need to speak to him. He will try his best to accommodate your needs and is very responsive if you contact him he gets back straight away👍🏻
