room quite small, no chair, although the cooked food was excellent , the cereals and fruit. at breakfast were pretty limited. the TV was impossible to watch on terrestrial channels, continually breaking up. Everything was very clean apart from the shower which had black mould in the corners.

The stand by light on the TV was very bright…kept flashing on and off. I didn’t realise it could be switched off at the wall.

The staff - in particular Colin in the bar, and Sue who served breakfast. As a solo female traveller, I very much appreciated Colin's kindly attention. He ensured that I was comfortable generally, and also whilst eating alone in the bar area in the evening. He also arranged for me to have a 'buffet' breakfast in my room, on the day that I had to leave the pub before the breakfast service started. Sue, who served breakfasts, was friendly, helpful and lovely to chat to.

One downside was there was quite a bit of noise from cars on the main road so it made it difficult to sleep properly with the windows open.

The room was spacious and comfy, staff were friendly and the breakfast was amazing! We were pleasantly surprised with how good it was, the scrambeled eggs & omlette were delicious and the gluten free bread/roll they served was so so good.

No choice of a slim pillow but this is across the board, no-one ever offers a slim pillow and, to be fair, we have given up asking as there is not normally one available.

The hosts were fabulous. Very friendly and the breakfast lady (Sue?) was delightful.

It was quite expensive but cheaper than a lot of other options nearby so that may just be the area. We stayed on a Friday night and there was a band playing in the pub. They were good but it was very loud in our room which was directly above.

The man who greeted us made no attempt to help with the bags etc even though he could see my husband walks with a stick and was finding the stairs hard. He did not introduce himself and was off hand. We have no idea who he was , owner, land lord, who? We never saw him again fortunately. We asked the friendly waitress, who also cleaned the rooms etc if the radiator in our room could be turned off as we could not adjust the thermostat and it was on fully all night completely unnecessarily. Nothing happened at all and it was blasting out heat all night again during our second sleep! She said that she was not allowed to do it herself and the owner had not come in that day so no-one did it! We had the impression that the owners left their employees to it and it depended on who was there at the time if things were attended to properly or not.

We enjoyed most of the stay. Very friendly waitresses at breakfasts and the evening meal. Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water. good food. Omelettes and lamb especially good! An informal friendly atmosphere except for one individual who let down the standard

Wifi was a bit unpredictable as was the mobile reception but that is hardly the fault of the establishment. The approach can be a bit 'stop/start' with the narrow roads but again not the fault of the establishment. I've been on worse roads in Devon so it wasn't too bad at all & would not put me off booking again. In a way it's a part of the charm of the place.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the team and a couple of the locals. Room was very clean and comfortable, which is key in my opinion. Ate in the restaurant during the evening and it was delicious as well as good value. Service was perfect and polite too. Breakfast had a good selection and again it was delicious. The service was great too. Parking was not an issue at all.
