Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWindows are not ultra efficient so you do hear the traffic noise outside. The bathroom was outdated.
Friendly staff and quirky features. The hotel is a 16th century coaching inn so has wonky floors and wooden beams which adds to its character.

CanadaNothing worth mentioning, other than it maybe is not a place to stay if you do not have a car.
I liked the location, and the chance to experience "traditional innkeeping" ( in my mind's eye, anyways).

United KingdomTwo of the rooms we had (8 in total for our group) had a bit of an issue with ventilation in the bathrooms so there were signs of damp/black mould around the showers.
Super friendly and attentive staff, happy to go out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed at all times. Food was great, breakfast was of high quality and was freshly made.

United KingdomTerrible smell coming from the drainage in the room. Stairs to room were hard to navigate but that was due to age of building.

United KingdomTo be honest, i liked everything,
All the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Jimmy, Gill and Celia. We had a lovely afternoon in the beer garden watching the locals play “Feed the rat”, drinking Morretti and orange cordial. In the evening, we had a fantastic Punjabi meal, the largest portions ever so “doggie-bags” are provided, accompanied with Cobra lager and orange cordial ! Thank you for having us and we would recommend you to everyone. Colin & Beverley.

United KingdomRoad noise as expected as on a main road, ear plugs solved that problem so had a good nights sleep. Informed that bathrooms are due to be done up soon as looking a little tired at present.
Quirky period building, sloping floors were funny which gave it character(it is a 16th Century Building). Indian restaurant amazing. Bar comfortable with an excellent range of drinks. Staff very attentive, kind & considerate.

United KingdomIt was a long wait for our breakfast - about 45/50mins. Although the hotel itself was very quiet in terms of not hearing any other guests the road it is on is busy and the secondary glazing doesn't keep much traffic sound out....thankfully I did have ear plugs with me.... however, I fully appreciate it's difficult with the age of the building and being listed. Improvements I'd suggest include a blind at the bathroom window.. It would have been appreciated as despite frosted glazing I felt very exposed with the light on in the bathroom at night (room fronted onto the road) especially with the toilet being next to the low window. Also a bin for sanitary products in the bathroom would have been helpful as they can't be flushed.
Evening meal was excellent and I will def eat there again if I'm in the area. The food was so tasty. Room was a good size. Bed was comfy. Very clean throughout. Breakfast itself was great. Good portions for all the food we had. I loved the quirkiness of the whole place. Staff were really friendly. Kindly gave us a dish on the house with our evening meal as there had been a slight misunderstanding on the order.

United KingdomThe building is old and so has some interesting quirks. One example was the uneven floors which felt odd to walk on, some doors have poor headroom, and the kettle in the room was very small. There were a couple of other minor things but on the whole the stay was very nice. Well worth the money.
We went there for a friend's wedding that was nearby and this was in a great location for us. The building is lovely and the local area seemed quite nice too. The restaurant seemed good and while I did not eat there, some friends of ours did and said it was good. Checkout was very simple, and allowed us to get on the road after the wedding with minimal fuss.
