Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLimited parking but we were lucky with a space at the back of the hotel. As the building is older, we could hear some other residents but appreciate this can't be helped!
The hotel was everything we needed for our short stay. The location was perfect for what we needed and in the main square. Room was cosy and the breakfast was great. We were able to park in the few spaces available at the back.

United KingdomBit of a mix up with our booking re our dog but all sorted within a few minutes. If the lady checking us hadn’t been thinking out loud we wouldn’t have known.
Location slap bang in the centre of charming little Cotswold village. Parking at rear for Hotel guests. Breakfast super. Great friendly staff. We booked a table for evening then scouted out the numerous other village offerings. Stuck with the Kings. Evening meal was nice, they were turning folks away so have something booked if staying here.

United KingdomOur en suite was described as a private bathroom, when in fact it just had a shower so perhaps that could be reworded to reflect what to expect.
A wonderful 500 year old building steeped in history. Charles 1 stayed there. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Because it is 500 years old there is not a lift and our old knees struggle with stairs. But there was a very strong young man who wizzed our cases up the stairs with no trouble. The manageress was so friendly and helpful and chatted about the area too. It is worth noting that the restaurant is very popular so it is worth booking. She managed to get us in with a short wait but in a Monday evening, it is tbe only restaurant open in the village apparently, all tbe rest close. That brings me to the highlight of our stay and that is the food. This is an excellent chef. Both of us highly rated our meal. We had seabass with a wonderful saffron sauce and my husband had blade of beef which was also cooked in an excellent sauce and a good potion of beef. But what also made this dish sing was the homemade horse radish sauce. For pudding I had the best apple crumble I have ever had, the crumble was really nutty. Excellent breakfast too, good produce, sausages, bacon, ham etc. You could park for free in the hotel grounds. It was a reasonable price for 1 night stay at very short notice.

AustraliaIf you are staying on the Top Floor, beware there is a very steep and narrow set of stairs that are hard to climb when managing heavy suitcases if you are not in physically good condition. No issues if all you have is a carry-on bag.

Breakfast was excellent, the room was very spacious and comfortable. It’s a nice hotel as it has all you need but retains its historic feel. The manager is brilliant, always there and makes everything tick. We’d to return next year for the Air Tattoo weekend but it’s already sold out!

United KingdomThe toilet was difficult to flush, and whilst it is an old building, the rooms could do with a spruce up especially the bathroom.

AustraliaThe room had an upstairs mezzanine bedroom and was totally charming, sitting at the rear of the property where horses and carts would have been back in the day. We had an excellent Sunday roast in the pub and were 100% happy with the Kings Arms. Location right in the heart of Stow-On-The-Wold couldn't have been better.
