The property is very good value and quite centrally located. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly.

The bathroom was shabby and the whole place felt a bit rough around the edges.

You cannot fault the place for the price. More than half price of its nearest competitors. Yes the decor is a bit tired but the rooms are a great size and I sleep like a baby when I stay here. The staff are great, so much so that I play chess with one of them, every time I stay!

Shared bathroom but I have never had any problems. The shower is hot and powerful. Never had anyone trying to interrupt/use the bathroom at the same time as me

Cheap accommodation, but that's about all I can say for it.

Where do I start? It is a totally grotty, very run down pub that doesn't serve meals — the sort of place I (as a single female traveller) would not have touched with a bargepole if I knew what it was before I booked it. It's in a dodgy area of town that I would have preferred not to be in as well. Guy who runs it has an over-friendly, uncontrollable large dog that jumps on everyone; I'm not scared of dogs, but that is way beyond unprofessional, as is the entire character of the place. Room was shabby and stank of stale sweat even after having the window open all day. No washbasin in the room, and the shared bathroom was not very nice. Didn't use the shower, as it had a communal sponge and shower puff (artificial loofah) in it... from a hygiene perspective, UGHHH. The door of my room was extremely difficult to open (needed shoving or kicking most times) and the lock was difficult to operate as well — unnerving given how creepy the whole place was. Best I can say is, the bed was not too uncomfortable and the bedding was clean. Will not be staying there again and I don't recommend that anyone else should either. The whole establishment desperately needs total renovation or else (probably better and cheaper) demolition.

The room was distressed. Wallpaper was peeling from the wall. The curtains had ceased to meet. The lock on the door was faulty. The ceiling had damp stains. The divan bottom was stained too. In the bathroom the taps on the sink did not work. The carpet has been vacuumed badly. The bedding was clean. The shower was good There was no toilet paper. It was difficult to speak to the staff as they were overworked in the bar The noise from the bar permeated into the upstairs room.

Friendly and welcoming staff – we didn't need any help during our short stay, but I'm sure they'd have bent over backwards to help. Our room was spacious with a comfy bed, and being able to use the shared kitchen was a nice bonus. Parking at the back of the pub was also handy.

It's a run-down old pub and very tired – it looks genuinely terrible from the outside. The bathroom, while clean, was grotty, and our bedroom had definitely seen better days too. That said, given the low price compared to other nearby hotels (even the YHA), we'd happily book there again.

Staff very helpful. An inexpensive night in the town I wanted. Comfy bed. Clean.

The rooms and corridors were clean, but badly in need of TLC (paintwork etc). I don’t mind sharing a bathroom, but the fact that the only loo for the rooms was in the bathroom is likely to annoy others as well as me.

Low end, low budget, not to my liking. It might appeal to the “Britain on $60 a Day” crowd but it held no sppeal to me.

On a busy street with traffic noise from 5 am to Midnight. Very old building with not much done to fix it up. Security system was old and cranky. Shared shower stall needed to be cleaned.

Very spacious room - tall, airy, even an open fireplace!

No breakfast facilities - it's really stretching it to call it a 'hotel!'
