Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bathroom area smelt of drains, you had to make sure the door was permanently shut. It was immaculately clean though. The room was extremely hot, a fan was provided though.
It was well maintained & excellent value.

The radiator was on and we couldn't turn it off it was really hot inside and outside.
We have stayed before and love the Larches. Perfect location only 25 mins walk into town. Has a bus stop to town and the end of the street. Spotlessly clean. Fan placed in room was a nice touch and it was a decent one so helped keep the room cool. Big tick for that.

Fastidiously clean and extremely well appointed. Bedding was of very high quality and extremely comfortable. Access via codes communicated early in the day. No issues whatsoever and would definitely recommend Free plentiful parking on the road and only a short £4.50 Uber ride to town centre.

The check in process was easy once confirmed, but quite last minute with provision of details. As I was a bridesmaid at a wedding this resulted in a bit of extra stress on the day trying to find and scan my passport which I didn't have with me. I would have preferred having a bit more time to do this process.
Nice quiet room, comfy bed and well kitted out with everything you would need. Staff were really helpful, I left my kindle behind and they kindly recovered it and sent it to me.

Door access a little confusing so took a little while to get the hang of. Room quite small so everything a little crammed in. Rather warm.

Easy access, good communication from owner. Would have preferred to stay in the quiet garden lodge we booked, though, as this is on ground level. My husband found the several flights of stairs to be a problem. Few more teabags would have been welcome too.

The fridge was a little noisy at night whilst it went through its cycle. There was also a spider in the bed - but I guess that can’t be helped!
Good location with everything we needed in the room and a comfortable bed. Easy access keypad into the room.

Only the bed being a bit short for me
It’s very clean and quiet. The room is newly renovated. The bed was a bit small (short) but I am tall. The bed was comfortable though. The bathroom is newly renovated but fairly small. The kitchen was good although I was worried about being noisy as I’m an early riser and there is a room right next to it. It’s very close to the town centre in a pretty safe and quiet area. Parking easy out the front. I’d stay again.

Room facing towards road bit noisy in the morning.
Location was spot on, easy walk to the park with lake and the town centre. Shop and takeaway around the corner. Communication with host, very efficient, super friendly and helpful. Price was fabulous, considering the size of the rooms with cooking/kitchen facilities inside, side table and chairs and a comfortable sofa!! We will definitely use The Larches again.
