Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI know that my only fault with my stay is due to the age and character of the building, but you could hear everything from the adjoining room ( conversation and use of toilet and running water).
Location, free parking and a lovely breakfast. Staff were lovely also. The garden to the rear was lovely to sit out in.

United KingdomBit of an effort walking back uphill, but fortunately there's a bench half-way.
Pretty place with its own parking across the road; en-suite rooms clean and comfortable, although tall people need to watch the beams; plenty of choice at breakfast, and a good selection for dinner, which was delicious. The dining-room is light and airy, and overlooks a pretty garden with sea-view. From the hotel, the approach to the sea-front, along the main road, is probably a 10-minute downhill walk, but it's worth it, with so many interesting shops, cafes, restaurants, and quite a few fossil-shops. If you want to find your own fossils, try beachcombing, or take a 10-minute drive eastwards to Charmouth, where there's parking (Council and private), a beach-front free-entry Museum (interesting!), and you can buy a hammer and safety-goggles to go whack a few stones on the beaches - and it's a triumph if you actually find your own fossil (you have to pick the right type of stone, though!).

United KingdomOur room was hot, but it was hot weather and sunny, so the hotel could do nothing about that, but there was a cooling fan in the room which helped.
Convenient position with parking. Helpful and friendly staff and lovely breakfast wit views across the bay.

United KingdomVery low water pressure for the shower, road noise (appreciate that's out of their control). Evening meal - slow service, over an hour wait from ordering. Could have just been unlucky.
Big airy, spotlessly clean room. Lovely staff. Good location. Breakfast tasty.

United KingdomThe bed was very soft and squeaky in room 8. Good size though and well-equipped. Spotlessly clean.
Truly pet-friendly and lovely to see all the canine guests enjoying the dining ambience with their families. Very pretty and well-lit dining room with superb views from the garden. Beware the seagulls when eating outside, though I chose to eat in.

United KingdomOnly a couple of things... first just a personal issue for me..food smells wafting into our room as the kitchen was at the bottom of the stairs and always had the door open...and secondly the toilet roll holder kept falling off the wall.
The garden and view was beautiful....on our second day when the sun came out it felt like we were abroad. Good choice of food for breakfast, the evening meal was very tasty and portions were huge...they had there own parking which was a big plus .

New ZealandThe water pressure was weak in the shower. And with the historic houses you are never going to get big rooms. But if you embrace this as an opportunity to experience some genuine seaside accommodation, you will not be disappointed.
We were wonderfully greeted and made to feel comfortable and cared for during our whole stay. The age and quirkiness of the building and rooms meant we had a unique experience and yet there was no sacrifice on the quality of the furnishings. The view of the sea is worth the money, even on a cold summer's day. And both the double & twin rooms were lovely. The breakfast and dinner were also fabulous. Would recommend booking your dinner ahead so you don't miss out!

United KingdomBit noisy on the road. Not enough hooks in the bedroom for hanging.
Wonderful old building, full of character. Exceptional views at the rear of the building. The rooms at the front are on the road so take white noise / ear plugs. Family owned for decades and the son is now trying to update some areas. Location at the top of high st is about 5-10 minutes walk to the town. But the view is lovely, dog friendly and they were happy with one night in August (we were walking). Bus stop is right outside. We were in family room with one double, adjoining twin and small shower room.

United KingdomRoom was very comfortable however because of the age of the building the ceiling height was quite low which resulted in the room got hot quickly when the sun shone and being on the top floor the heat was concentrated in our room. Wouldn't have been bearable during the very hot spells we've had recently. My suggestion would be to install air conditioning.
Breakfast was Excellent.. Good choice of meals and all were excellently presented and cooked to perfection.!
