I would rate the restaurant 2 out of 10. The dishes we ordered were poorly prepared and overpriced. I realize the restaurant is separate from the hotel, but it’s frustrating to see so many positive reviews suggesting it’s excellent. The beer was fine, but overall the food was below average.

Appeared to be a bit short staffed, although they did make every effort. Road access a bit tricky, but not much hotel can do about that!

Very lovely place to stay, beautiful building and surroundings. Loved the animals and that it was pet friendly! Had what we needed, quiet surroundings, and would stay again. Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much.

The breakfast was good but you had to keep asking for things. It wasn't done automatically. Your room number was on the table which was good, but someone else had sat there and used the cups and bowls.

Had great views from the bedroom. Quirky old bar lovely friendly people including the locals. Great beer garden. Pet friendly. Nice and peaceful, very relaxing

The bed was softer than I like but then I prefer a firm mattress. A thick duvet was supplied but, being summer, it was too warm. This is the same for just about everywhere in the UK so we always bring our own lightweight travel blankets to use with just the duvet cover.

Dinner was excellent with a good choice of beer and whisky, with very helpful and good advice from the property owner and manager who was running the bar that night. The view from the bedroom window over the Lake District hills was magnificent. The charger right by the front door was very useful as we were travelling by EV. It's nice to wake up to a fully charged vehicle.

We’ve travelled extensively, but our stay at the Mortal Man truly exceeded expectations. The combination of breathtaking views, cozy charm, and warm hospitality made this visit unforgettable. The staff were all welcoming and the dog-friendly accommodation was a real bonus—our four-legged companions were as happy as we were! We return to The Mortal Man often as we love it. Staff, location, views, comfort and food. It’s very comfortable. We also like the ducks and cats!
