Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The most perfect little retreat set in the grounds of a stunning home. The garden was tranquil and restful, full of rustling trees, birdsong, and tawny owls calling at night. A comfortable and romantic/escapist setting. Florence the host was welcoming, warm, helpful and lovely to chat to

United KingdomNothing to dislike, this is the standard to which others should aspire.
Florence gave me a warm and friendly welcome to this idyllic shepherd's hut, set in beautiful grounds. The outside decking had calming views across the fields which was lovely on sunny evenings. The shepherd's hut had everything I needed for a short break. I'd love to come back again.

Lovely location and the shepherds hut was bigger then I expected and well set out. I even had a hot water bottle to settle in on the first night. The hut was warm, very well equipt and the host left a supply of milk, eggs and bread which was much appreciated. The host was very welcoming and friendly

United KingdomAbsolutely loved everything about my stay. The hut is full of charm in a stunning, peaceful location with everything you could need. Yes, it’s compact – but that’s part of the magic. If you’re looking to truly switch off and escape the world for a while, this place is pure joy.

United KingdomEverything was great about our stay, especially our host Florence, who went out of her way to make us (and our two dogs) feel totally on holiday in the shepherd’s hut deep in her peaceful and beautifully landscaped garden. The shepherd’s hut really had everything one could need packed into a relatively compact space and the bathroom was luxurious. Tigley is deep in classic Devon countryside, an easy drive from many lovely places - we went to Totnes for coffee and a walk around (so nice when people you never met before smile at you), Salcombe to meet friends for a stunning cliff walk after taking the ferry across the picturesque bay, Slapton Sands for a dog walk, D Day history and a gaze out to sea, charming and dog-friendly Thurlstone Beach on the recommendation of Florence, finishing off with the best fish and chips ever at the Rockfish in Dartmouth.

Wonderful hostess, very helpful. Great use of a shepherd's hut, with clever incorporation of shower/ w.c. and fridge, microwave, etc. Spacious verandah and peaceful grounds. Excellent.

NepalVisiting for the Dart 10k Swim, the location was perfect and the host, Florence absolutely fantastic in the level of service she delivered. I don’t normally review places I’ve stayed but thought I just had to do so in this case. I would recommend the shepherds hut and will definitely stay there again when I return to the area. Indeed, the garden and associated trees alone are worth staying to see. Thanks.

United KingdomOnly thing we’d suggest is maybe some curtains for the main doors, but with the location it wasn’t a deal breaker :)
Florence (the owner) was lovely & made the stay perfect for us! It was perfect amount of space for our couple nights away & the facilities were great. There’s a patio which is perfect for breakfast and drinks in the eve, with a lovely view. Couldn’t fault it!

United KingdomNothing really - the weather was stunning - hot - could sit outside and watch the sun go down and moon come up! The gardens surrounding were gorgeous too.
Could make my own breakfast which suited me perfectly- lovely muesli etc supplied with fruit and milk in fridge for tea and coffee - just great. The views and location was lovely - a bit tricky to find in the beginning- I turned off to the church nearby - but once found a delight to find again. Convenient for Dartinton Gardens, Shinners Bridge and Totnes visits and host very knowledgeable and helpful about where to visit and park in various locations.
