Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere wasn't really much, I wasn't keen that there was only a fridge in the hall where other people could get to your stuff if you chose to have things like milk etc, but that's personal. I would have liked a member of staff when I arrived but again only a personal thing. The room was hot, so either a fan or air con would have been good.
The room was spacious and clean. It was a proper oold-fashionedhouse with beams, etc. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was clean. There was a lovely desk in the room, a good size wardrobe and chest of drawers. The showere was over a lovely bath. It had everything you'd need for a comfortable stay. It had a sofa in the room and a TV, and it was quiet.

United KingdomBreakfast was a bit poor, when I booked it thought we would get a proper breakfast but it was boxes of cereal. They did let us know in an email beforehand so I requested a couple of croissants but it would be better if a cooked breakfast was part of the package.
Really good location for where we needed to be, super comfy bed and lovely decor

United KingdomAlthough warning of creaky rooms is listed, we didn't quite anticipate how creaky. We had guests in the room above us and the noise and creaking transferred through until the early hours. However, I appreciate this is not the hotels fault, maybe some reminders provided to the upper rooms would help this.
Easy access, good communication throughout booking. Good facilities and lovely decor throughout. Location was a useful base to travel out to the local area.

United KingdomShower was somewhat lacking. No pressure. Self check in with bags is challenging as you need two hands to get through the door. Breakfast? …. Last time I stayed the milk was in a fridge on the landing… this time, the milk carton was in the basket, in the room, the night before with daytime temperatures of 23 degrees…. Nooo thank you.

United KingdomWe didn’t like the breakfast hamper, sadly not much choice, thought there may be some croissants possibly cheese and ham etc It would’ve been lovely to sit out in the garden having a wine early evening, but the site is only staffed certain hours of the day ,but still a wonderful place
It’s a very quirky building with an unusual layout lovely garden although the staff was not there all the time Ewan was exceptional (sorry if I’ve spelt that wrong)

United KingdomImpersonal. No staff to welcome guests due to the “keyless entry” check in. Breakfast was “in room” which means you get a basket of cereal and fruit and the milk and yoghurt are in the fridge in the landing. Enjoy in your room. Not my worst hotel experience but expensive for this one….. sorry.
Clean. Good car park.

United KingdomThe bed was very uncomfortable, I'm usually not a fussy person when it comes to firm beds but this bed was exceptionally firm to the point I couldn't get to sleep easily and woke up with a bit of pain. Also we got woken up around midnight by the guests staying above us, you can hear everything, even their conversation was so clear we could understand every word, their floor boards are so creaky too. There was also only 1 towel so me and my partner had to share.
Settings were beautiful, and the whole building is very pretty, decor and all added extras were to a high quality, and the location was good for where we needed to be. They provided fresh milk & orange juice for us & a great selection of teas and coffees for the morning. The shower was to a good pressure and temperature was easily managed. Shampoo, bodywash, soap, conditioner and body lotion were provided. The place was very clean. Luckily there was someone around for an early check in as I didn't recieve a response from The Old Rectory if we were able to do this beforehand.
