Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The bed in our room had a very soft mattress so not very good for back support, but the room itself was comfortable.
We were given a nice welcome on our arrival. Very efficient and helpful.

Wasn’t very impressed with take away breakfast, not very good value for money. Also could have added shower gel to bathroom. Apart from that lovely place to stay.

The lighting in the room was a little dim.
The staff were fantastic and the food excellent, both at breakfast and our evening meal. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and comfortable.

The room was light very early in the morning due to the high windows above the door to the outside .The view out of large window on to rural land at the back was not great due to a stack of rubbish (possibly for a bonfire).A blind on the back window would solve this.
Excellent approachable staff .Very accommodating to our needs. Spacious rooms.Pub was lovely.Breakfast was just the right amount of options.

The quirky shower in the bath was not very practical. 2 of the room lights need new bulbs.

There was only one option for breakfast time - 0900, but in the end it worked out fine as we weren't in a hurry. As a Northerner I would have prefered some beans on the fry up, but when in Rome etc... so no massive deal.
The continental breakfast that's included in the price is excellent, although I elected for the full english at £10.50 extra which was well worth it. The ladies taking care of us couldn't be more helpful with coffee top ups etc. Top notch.

Light in room was appalling no chance of reading or working if dark then no curtains on skylight so room fully lit up at 5am. Breakfast was really good but 9am take it or leave it?? Silly little chairs in room and no full length mirror. Minor housekeeping issues made a lot worse by lack of light prompted a complaint on check out. Great to say staff handled this well but can’t see light issue resolved as now see it mentioned in many reviews. Management need to wake up and try to sleep in a room themselves. Staff are worth weight in gold. Also Too many negative vibes. If you leave key in door roomside you WILL be charged for a locksmith - make it impossible. If you damage anything you will be charged, turn off lights. These mentally conjure up authoritarian negatives yet you think it’s fine to fully block a fire escape with stacked chairs in the pub.
Bar, Restaurant and staff very good. Nice location. Good breakfast. Large room. Plenty of parking and very peaceful.
