This was an amazing stay . Victoria is a brilliant hostess and chef. We were treated with such kindness and warmth that we felt totally at home almost immediately. We took advantage of Vic’s talents and hade a fabulous Italian meal on both nights of our stay. We have travelled extensively both home and abroad but this stay was unique and quite simply fabulous.

Beware those with large vehicles- the quaint country roads leading to the property were a bit hairy at times, and parking was challenging. Best navigated with a small car! But everything related specifically to the stay and property was delightful.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Old Thatch. The building itself is incredibly beautiful, and all the facilities were clean and well-maintained. Our host provided an awesome breakfast each morning.

Our electric car broke down and mini took 22 hours to recover it and provide a replacement. Victoria bent over backwards to support us , let us use her facilities way after check out, drive us to an appointment and also to get a hire car. After getting to know her so well from unforeseen circumstances we are hoping she will cater for our wedding!!!!

It was uniquely charming. The host Victoria is the most wonderful host her culinary skills are exemplary. I think it was the best mushroom risotto I’ve ever had. The breakfast was equally superb.

Loved the history of the place and how welcome the hosts were.She was exceptional in every sense attentive nothing to much trouble.

Nothing dislike. Just want to remind people who drive big cars, prepare yourself to avoid some very narrow roads, unless you’re very skilled at driving narrow country roads.

The old thatch house and its decor, the charming , helpful hostess Vic and her dogs, the comfortable bed, the nice breakfast, the local friendly people, the location to both Dartmoor and the coast.

Absolutely fantastic overnight stay on our way to Port Issac for our Easter Break. This place is a little gem with fabulous views from both the garden and the window of a delightful double room. Lovely warm welcome on arrival with a bottle of bubbly waiting for us after a long drive. Everything about the cottage is charming but the food is incredible - Italian Cuisine at it's best. Breakfast the following morning was also incredible with the best cup of coffee I've tasted.

Viv is the most warm and welcoming host, shes thoroughly professional but at the same time incredibly relaxed - she’s also a first class chef, food was outstanding, ambiance perfect, our room lovely, great breakfast. This felt like an experience rather than a B&B stay, what a find. Now looking for reasons to return! 💯 recommend, thank you.

Everything! Welcomed into the house like we were friends! A lovely atmosphere and greeted with prosecco on arrival which was a lovely touch. A beautiful home that is so clean and spacious, the room was as described and the bed was so comfy. Breakfast was a 10/10. I wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night! Also the shared bathroom was not a problem at all - Victoria provides bath robes in the rooms for you as we had no issues in sharing with fellow guests! Also the two collies that live here made our trip!

Everything was perfection from the moment we stepped foot into The Old Thatch! Victoria introduced herself and provided complimentary drinks upon arrival and ran through our itinerary with us to ensure everything stay-related was perfectly timed as to not hinder our upcoming wedding plans. The homemade pasta was to absolutely die for and the breakfast had a fantastic variety as well as being perfectly cooked. We were well rested on both occasions we awoke due to the comfort and quality of our environment and the choice of décor is sublime. We could not have picked a better choice for our wedding stay, Victoria went above and beyond in her hospitality, even making sure my suit was pressed and ironed for my big day! Thank you for making our weekend even more special than it already was, we'd love to visit again sometime.

Staying here is like staying with family, but the kind of family that you're excited to see and reluctant to leave. The setting, the vibe, the everything was just perfect! I cannot recommend enough the need to stay here. And if you don't want to stay but are in the area you HAVE TO eat here! Victoria is an amazing chef and deserves more people to know how great she is!

Bathroom is shared with another room and slightly tricky walk with varying levels. Couldn't get the shower temp right. Bathroom very beautiful though! Remember it is an old house so some low ceilings, tricky steps etc. Not really a problem though and all part of the charm of the historic building.

We loved our stay. We had a very warm welcome from Victoria complete with a glass of prosecco and chatting by a cosy fire. The house is amazing, it's much more like staying with classy friends than a B and B. Very comfortable and lots of thoughtful little touches. Delicious (I'm guessing) Italian dinner available with pre-booking (we couldn't arrive in time to try it). Breakfast was outstanding. Cute dogs and kitten to pet. Great location and good tips for local visits.

The Old Thatch is a little gem. Victoria is an excellent and talented host making you feel instantly at ease (helped by the glass of bubbles on arrival!) The property is quirky due to the age of the building and eclectic in its decor, which we loved. Lots of little touches to make you feel special, like the lavender on the pillows. Our room and the view was delightful and very comfortable. We enjoyed an authentic Italian meal prepared by Vic, which was delicious and beautifully presented. The breakfast was to match. Even had a dog fix! We can recommend this property enough.
