Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere is no reception so it was difficult when I checked in and out( I figured out where to leave my luggage myself) Also, there is no air conditioning so hot hot hot 🔥

United KingdomYou're left somewhat isolated the owners no doubt run several small hotels. You are given a four digit code door entry but the door has yale lock with sneck latch? Was even asked by visitors from Italy if this was correct hotel (no signage) and how to get room key. There's an emergency number on staff door-rang twice but no response. Seems more and more small hotels and bnb's are operating like this-i.e. sort yourself out. Would be nice to be greeted and welcomed but then this is the world. I would no doubt stay here again, so please owners, spare me one of the pre written some what obsequious replies.
Room and bed acceptable for the price. Very handy location for shops and tube.

Germany* The room was small, I can say it was the smallest room ever in my life for two people. * The bathroom could be cleaner. * Checkout was confusing, I just left my key on the box, but the box was opened with the key on it. It was strange for me. * Since it is an old building, there is no voice isolation.
* Location was great * The staff was great * It is perfect for a one-night stay * Our room was in the garden, which felt like private property as ours * One has underground and upper-ground public transportation options.

United KingdomThe staff this year really let me down. Last year Margot was the best, always there to greet you with a smile in the morning and available for any enquiries, this year I was met with a phone number stuck on the reception door, a number which thankfully was answered on my first day (Friday), but when I tried to ring twice on Saturday there was no response. Not happy with this, if you insist on calling yourself a hotel, then this is unacceptable. Lastly, it wasn't too much of a bother for me, but there is no lift and the stairs would pose a problem for anyone with movement disabilities.
It's a very convenient location if you're visiting an event in Olympia, and it's clean and comfortable. Last year I was on the very top floor and my room was like an oven, but this year I was on the third floor and it was better, and this time I had a fridge and a microwave, which were quite convenient.

United KingdomBed had hairs on it and on the floor as well. The hotel room was downstairs. When someone flushed upstairs it was like the hell came down in noise and then there was and annoying high pitched noise from the water filling back up. (In other rooms!), every time. You can literally hear the neighbours talk. And in the morning the cleaning lady plays her music very loud on top of the angry discussion that the cleaning lady had with the office lady. So I guess hotel is alright but not the rooms on the ground floor. I stayed for two nights and there is no bedmaking or any room cleaning of any kind in between.
The bed was comfortable enough. Location was good, close to supermarket, pizza, coffeshops, underground. The room was ok, funny smell in the bathroom. It was like a converted cupboard so very small. Sitting on the toilet you sit against the sink. Shower was very nice. Bathroom seemed clean apart from the nasty smell. Could have done with an extra chair, or table in the room and a bedlight.

United KingdomThe room was very small, just about enough room for two small suitcases open on the floor. The hotel didn't have its own sign so we initially went to the wrong hotel next door, the receptionist there said lots of people do that!
The location was ideal, a 5 minute walk to get the district line straight into the centre of London. The room was clean, the shower was great, bed comfy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sainsburys a few metres along the road.

United KingdomOverall, I liked this hotel and didn't experience any issues. However, it might be worth mentioning for other people that the room didn't have a desk and there is no lift in the building. The TV was tiny, on the top of the wall and there was only a channel you could watch.

AustraliaBathroom Black mould on shower grouting - looks unhealthy & disgusting. Despite listing - no bathrobe supplied. Toiletries bare minimum of gel in wall-mounted dispenser, smelt like the hand wash gel so maybe from same source? Kitchenette Nowhere to drain dishes or tea towels so had to just wash & leave them around sink to air dry. Security Front-door poorly equipped with 1 Yale like lock, usually left 'on-the-latch' so anyone without the code could walk in. Storage Found someone's socks on top shelf. Lighting needs bedside lamp.
Food prep facilities in the room: Tea & coffee making supplies, microwave, fridge & sink were useful. nice room size & bed. Surrounding area Convenient location. nice view of the garden from window.

Costa RicaThe name of the hotel doesn't match the name of the place. This place is called Hotel 23, and the name "Matheson Olympia Hotel" is a completely different hotel. the toilet lever was not working properly. We stayed in a first-floor room, and we could hear when someone in the rooms above us flushed the toilet. The sound was really annoying at night.
Good location. 5 min walking to the Station. Friendly and flexible staff with check-in. Near of restaurantes, sainbury’s and stations

FranceWalls and windows are very thin so you're able to hear everything in other rooms, corridors, and the street. I always tried to make as little noise as possible to not disturb other residents, no matter the time of day, which wasn't the case for everyone else. Other than that nothing was bad.
Staff was very nice and accomodating as I was travelling with my bike and asked for a place to keep it secure and they provided. Everything went very well and they're always making sure you have everything you need. Also Wifi is good and free ! Bed was super comfortable as well, and the supply in towels for showering was really appreciated.

GermanyOne day, after I returned to my room, I realized someone has entered my bathroom, leaving a bit of a mess and almost no toilet paper. I asked one of the staff and didn't know anything about it. The next day they informed me that they wanted to check a possible water leakage to the room below me.
For the price it was a good deal and a decent room.

CanadaWhen we showed up there was no one at the property to store our bags before check in. Until 30 mins later when someone helped us. The bathroom had a pretty horrid smell, had to buy my own air freshener to try and help ( which it didn’t). The room definitely needed a better clean. And we only had 1 roll of toilet paper for 2 people for 4 night stay. There was lots of flys when we first went into the room which kind of grossed me out. There was no air conditioner and the room was very hot, we asked reception if they had a fan but no luck.
Was close to an underground station which made it easy to get around. The bed was comfy.
