How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe hosts were friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the pillows.and duvet were so soft and comfy. The food was excellent and so was tea making facilities in the room. The hotel was a stones throw away from the high Street which had plenty of interesting shops of many varieties

Shower pressure
Thank you for your kind review. You mention the shower pressure in your room. We have just checked the shower and have seen that is on the economy setting. We normally leave it on the high setting but someone must have changed it. When the shower is on the high setting there are not normally any issues with the pressure. It is unfortunate that you did not mention this during your stay as we could then have advised the best settings to have shower on to get the best pressure and temperature.

Online information about directions to rear car park
You have commented on the limited online information regarding directions to our car park. This seems to be a comment about the booking site you used, rather than our guest house. In the light of your comment we have tried to enhance what is shown on the booking site but they use standard formats across all their properties and there are limited options to include free type tailored to an individual property. There is some limited information about the car park in the section entitled "The Fine Print" but there is a character limit of how much we can say. A fuller description of the directions to our car park can be found on our website. Roadside parking is available at the front of the guest house and if guests have not been able to work out the way to the car park we can assist them with that when they check in.

Traffic not being able to bring my dog in dining room being as pet friendly. Being a pup she didn't like being on her own in the room made alot of noise she would of been fine if she was with me..
We are sorry that you were disturbed by traffic noise. There is virtually no traffic passing during the night but maybe some from early morning. You were here during the very hot weather so probably slept with the window open which would have made any noise louder. You had a room at the front of the house but if you book a room at the rear there is virtually no noise at all. We always make guests aware in advance the we do not take dogs in the dining room during breakfast as a courtesy to other guests. If this arrangement is not suitable for specific guests/their dog then we are not the right accommodation for them. We do not describe ourselves as dog friendly but say that we allow guests to bring dogs with certain restrictions. Unfortunately other websites that pick up our guest house interpret being allowed to bring a pet as meaning that we are pet friendly and we have no control regarding their descriptions of us.

Verified reviewJust what we needed. Quiet, clean and welcoming. Excellent location. Situated on the main road out of Minehead but there was no traffic noise in the room. Good parking facilities. We were on a motorcycle and we had no concerns about security. Very close to town centre and on the flat so no hills to walk up to get home to bed! We had a lovely airy room, more like a studio, and brilliant en-suite. The breakfast arrangements were very efficiently organised and the breakfast itself was fantastic. Many thanks to Chris and Sue, who helped to make our short stay in Minehead unforgettable.
Not a lot. Personally I found the steps from the car park a bit of a struggle, carrying baggage etc and dodgy knees.

My fault, booked twin room, which was on top floor, I'm disabled so was a trek, but my fault for not looking into this throughly, but lovely room and spacious en-suite.

The Booking.com summary of the property said there was a EV charging station but this proved not to be the case.

Unfortunately we cannot see where Booking.Com have got the information regarding an EV charging station from and are unable to amend their description of our property. We do offer guests a service of charging an electric vehicle if they can plug into a standard 3 pin socket. This may take a time but can be left charging overnight. We offer an extension lead to assist in this. We believe that you did not have the necessary connection with you whilst you were away from home.
