Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyLovely place, with a cosy and authentic atmosphere. We loved our comfortable room with the best view of the seaside. Breakfast was great, with a buffet (bread, coffee, etc.) and a menu of cooked choices. We tried the porridge and Scottish breakfast, and they were delicious. The staff was very welcoming. The place is also an inn serving high-quality food at dinner, which is convenient as there are no other options to eat in Pennan.

The evening meal was superb. The inn was small but tastefully decorated, with reference to the 1980s film Local Hero which was partly filmed there.

GermanyOur room was very small. We should have booked a larger room with a sea view at this hotel.
We particularly liked the fantastic location and the small town with its harbor. The food at the hotel was very good and we highly recommend it.

United KingdomAll good.
Wonderful stay at this beautiful inn right on the seafront. Very welcoming and attentive staff and owner. Outstanding location directly by the sea - I requested a seaview room and was lulled to sleep by the sound of waves. Good spacious room, very comfortable bed, excellent shower, wifi, and breakfast. Outstanding restaurant in the Inn, delicious food prepared with care and expertise. Easy to park on street or in car park at end of street.

United KingdomI cannot think of any faults
We picked the Inn because of it's location and connection to film history. The location is stunning, we enjoyed a few walks along the short shore and harbour and enjoyed the experience of the drive in to Pennan. The building is very old and some features inside reflect that, but it was clean, cosy and well decorated. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, the view is fantastic and the room facilities were excellent. Lastly the food,. I did not realise how good the food was going to be, it really is worth visiting for that alone. Our dinner was so tasty, the fresh ingredients and the combination of flavours used were really exceptional and everything was presented beautifully. We will definitely return for the location and the food.

United KingdomI recently stayed at the Pennan Inn Hotel for one night, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. My deluxe sea-view room with an ensuite was immaculate, comfortable, and offered a stunning view of the ocean—a perfect spot to unwind. The bar was cosy and welcoming, with exceptional service from the friendly bar lady. The selection of cold beverages, beers, and a top shelf brimming with malt whiskies was impressive. The menu truly surprised me with its variety of fresh, appealing dishes. I opted for the scallops, steak, and lemon posset—all of which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Breakfast the next morning was sublime—though I must admit, I did miss having a slice of haggis! The staff were helpful throughout my stay, and the free Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, which was a lifesaver as there was no mobile signal in the area. As for Pennan itself, the village is nothing short of magical. It’s beautifully isolated, picturesque, and everything you’d hope for in a coastal getaway. I highly recommend the Pennan Inn Hotel for anyone traveling or working in the region—it’s an exceptional place to stay, full of charm and character.
