Parking requires payment or £100 fine, so make sure to bring it up with reception if they don't! A bit dated. Basic TV.

Great cliff top location with direct room access to lawn and path down to harbour. Continue South to cliff top walk with great castle ruins.

Whilst the room on 2nd floor was very comfortable with excellent views, the water pressure for shower was poor. A warning also for people with mobility problems, to walk down from and back to hotel to the village involved either steep long flight of steps or a long and winding walk up steep hill. Lastly, be aware that you are charged daily to park car in hotel car park which, at time of writing, was £6.50 per day.

Toasters were rubbish and situated away from main food area.. No signs to hotel at turnoff. No restaurant in evening on first night when we wanted to stay in after a long journey. Threatening car park signs and apparently vindictive and punitive 3rd party administration of car park.

Good traditional hot breakfast buffet style with pastries, yogurts, fruit and juices. Excellent coffee and cheerful young staff.Lovely sea and harbour views.Historic building in magnificent clifftop location.

The rooms were a little tired. They were very clean but could have done with a lick of paint etc. We arrived at 8 pm and the restaurant was closed so we couldn't get food. The receptionist told us that the restaurant was usually closed early on Sundays. I had tried to call the hotel twice when we were driving up to check if the restaurant would be open but there was no answer, and I also sent a message through the booking.com app, which wasn't answered. If we had known that we couldn't get a meal we would have stopped en route but it was very disappointing to not be able to get a meal after a 10 hour drive. As Portpatrick is very small, we ended up with some crisps and nuts from the petrol station - not ideal!

The staff was lovely, all very helpful and efficient. Breakfast was good although there wasn't much left when we came down 20 minutes before the service finished. We could have ordered something else but we were in a hurry to catch a ferry.

Best location in Portpatrick. The views are stunning. We stayed in a suite which was spacious and the view from our windows was amazing. Unfortunately the bed was very hard and uncomfortable.

Breakfast was very basic with very limited options but enough to at least get a bowl of cereal or some toast - it was also only served for 2 hours each day 07.30-09.30 (M-F) and 08.00-10.00 (S&S) which is very early for anyone looking for a relaxing break. The evening meal was a choice of 3 options for each course - it was again basic but good portions. Oddly the evening meal was again only served for 2 hours 18.00-20.00. I was less than impressed that car parking had to be paid for - considering how remote the hotel is and how busy the Carpark was paying to park in a poorly paved and lit overflow was very disappointing. The bathrooms are dated and in need of replacement - with enamel coming off the baths etc. generally the room was surface clean but on closer look the window ledges where very dusty/dirty.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the cliff top. It is dated and has an older clientele. The rooms are large and downstairs is impressive. For a night or two it worked for us. Staff were always friendly and helpful.

The staff were wonderful, but hard pushed as there wasn't enough of them to cover the workload. The receptionists were doubling up at times to cover the bar. No barman in sight, poorly stocked bar, and couldn't get the drink I wanted plus you could wait quite a while before you got served. None of which was the staff's fault. I saw no sign of anyone in authority, no one checking what was taking place. What staff they do have are excellent, working hard in awful circumstances. The staff are the saving grace of this hotel plus the location it stands in. Such a shame, because that's the only thing that spoiled it. I do hope management can do something about this for the future

The hotel is in a beautiful location, looking over the bay. The room was clean and comfortable. I also found the staff to be friendly, polite and doing their best to help you. The food was pretty basic but wholesome.

Menu wasn't really up to much for dinner also no entertainment on at night, think you are missing a trick here as people would stay in hotel rather than venturing down to the pubs in the village

The toilet seat was badly fitted and very noisy when getting up from the toilet - however we didn’t raise this with the staff to resolve while we were there as the reception desk was unstaffed at the points we were coming through that area. The dinner included with the booking fell short of the food we’ve previously enjoyed at this hotel and so we dined out the second night.

We’ve stayed here a few times and always had a lovely time, the room was large and comfortable and well set up. Staff were friendly and worked hard to deal with all the guests.

Very dated & in need of updating. We were unable to have dinner & told staff on arrival, as the reservation was booked via booking.com we were advised to contact them directly re refund for meal. I have contacted them twice and as yet have had no response, would not book via booking.com again.

The room that we had booked was lovely but the windows didn’t open and therefore was very hot and stuffy. The reception staff were very helpful and were able to sort a new room out but unfortunately this wasn’t the same standard we had booked. We had this room as the window opened. The member of staff who sorted this issue for us was excellent.

Fantastic location. Comfortable bed. Great check in person very helpful, friendly and welcoming.

The service from some of the waiter could greatly be improved, one in particular got drinks wrong on 3 occasions .It the first time my wife has received the tea in the water jug and the milk in a teapot. The room maid didn't clean the bathroom in the 3 days we were there.

The location was great been there before but yawning front could do with being cut and bit more
