Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Absolutely nothing at all.
I never write reviews unless, it’s something above and beyond. This is a small slice of heaven, and I guess I was the lucky one to have the opportunity to stay for 4 nights. The location is really central to the town and all amenities. It has everything you will need for a relaxing stay.

There was nothing (again) we did not like about The Print Shop. We will certainly return. 😊
We liked everything about the property. This was our 2nd stay here, for 9 days over Christmas 2024. Yes. It is very small..., but every facility possible, and all amenities you will ever need are available here. We left a review about the property after our our last visit in February 2024, and we stand by every word of that. (look it up if you have time) Brilliantly convenient for all the attractions Barnard Castle has to offer, and just 500yds from the middle of the Front Street. That said, it is still lovely and peaceful in it's own way. In this review, I must also mention the amazing extraction hood fitted in to the ceiling above the cooking facilities. I know it sounds like an odd thing to mention, but it's a work of art, and super cool lighting effect to boot..!! Ingenious, but the whole place is, and we have never seen such overall clever use of space in any other BDC or Air B&B we have ever stayed in. Host Belinda, always responds to messages and queries very promptly, however small. As a couple, we will definitely return for a 3rd visit, hopefully sometime soon. Simply Fantastic. Give it a go.. You won't be disappointed..

Bedroom is small but adequate.
Well decorated and equipped cottage. Location excellent. Car pass well compensates for lack of parking at the property. Short walk to the main street and Bowes Museum.

The cottage is lovely and just off the main high street. There’s no parking in front of the cottage however a parking permit is provided for a car park less than 5 minutes walk away. We had a comfortable stay with everything we needed. The cottage was clean and warm.

The host was super responsive and made sure I gained access to the property. A real effort was made to make me feel comfortable, with lush towels, tea and coffee amenities and leaflets with local information. Overall a very pleasant experience! Thank you.

There was nothing we did not like about The Print Shop. It is superb (for a couple without pets, or children) 🙂
We liked the whole Print Shop experience. Beautifully appointed 2 storey property in the heart of the now famous Barnard Castle. Superbly thought out use of space, and packed with quite simply everything you could need for a comfortable and cosy stay. We were there for a week, and liked it so much, we re-booked for later in the year. Seemless entry key system for swift access upon arrival. Parking permit provided for car park, less than 1 minutes walk from front door. Yes..; The Print Shop is small, but more than adequate for 1 or 2 people. Facilties are wide and varied including, powerful WiFi throughout, superb 43" smart TV in lounge area (2nd TV in ground floor bedroom), fully equipped kitchen area (fridge, dishwasher, 2 plate ceramic hob, clever combi convection/grill/microwave oven, toaster, crups coffee maker with numerous pods supplied, and all necessary cutlery/pots/pans etc etc..) We cooked most days without issue, and a full Sunday Roast with all the trimmings was no problem at all...!! Washing machine behind sliding door on ground floor. Superb shower room/wc etc.. Home from home really...!! Everything you could possibly need for a hassle free holiday. Located about 500 feet from the very centre of the town and all it has to offer... No road immediately outside front door, so no traffic noise whatsoever.. Beautifully peaceful location. SUPERB... WE LOVED the place.. Host, Belinda was extremely helpful and was always available via mobile to answer any queries. We really enjoyed our stay in The Print Shop, and would have absolutely no hesitation at all in recommending it to other couples.. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed.. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

It is well positioned in the town, the paid for parking is a bonus and the cottage itself is delightful and extremely comfortable. It’s a great place to stay.

The host was easy to reach and very hospitable, gave me a good run through the different amenities and was very helpful! I had a very enjoyable stay, loved the peace and quiet and proximity to the shops. I would highly recommend the experience!
