Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomYou might want more breakfast choice but to be fair I think we could have arranged a cooked breakfast. The bed was a bit lumpy.
Friendly and accommodating staff. We arrived on bikes and a safe dry place was found for them. The room was quirky, comfortable and clean and the continental breakfast was good - well thought out and presented. We ate in the pub and the food was very good, freshly cooked. The desserts were exceptional!

United KingdomPerhaps would have preferred to know the breakfast arrangements before arriving to be better able to plan.
The pub is in a quiet village, which was what we expected, Staff were all very good, attentive and friendly. The breakfast was very good although unusually run; there was a basic continental breakfast in the rooms, which would have meant the group having breakfast separately -so we requested a cooked breakfast in the restaurant which turned out very good but they assumed we would all want a full english rather than waiting for our order - though they seemed happy enough to adjust it once we specified.

United KingdomNothing to complain about
The Red Lion is located in a small village, with it's own car park. The staff were very polite and friendly and made us very welcome. The accommodation was very clean and included and en suite . There was a really good menu choice. The pub was busy on the Friday night with a lovely local atmosphere.

United KingdomListing doesn't make it abundantly clear that the bathroom was separate from the bedroom , also found out when arriving the pub was shut on a Monday and Tuesday until Tuesday afternoon so if you stay on a Sunday night and Tuesday night the cooked breakfast wouldn't be available , while this was not a massive issue as I don't particularly eat breakfast and pastries were provided it may be an issue to others
Location was good

United KingdomThe room is in a quiet building at the end of the pub, convenient for popping round in the evening for food and drinks, but also nice and quiet. The room was very imaginatively and delightfully decorated, and certainly comfortable. The village is in a picturesque, quiet loop of the Severn, so a great location for a break. Staff were very helpful and found a secure overnight location for our tandem.

United KingdomOthers have said in past reviews that the bed needs replacing and it does. It seems that the advice has not been taken. There is a dirty stain on the carpet and skirting board and it gives the impression of uncleanliness (although on closer inspection the room was clean). We stayed for a wedding and walked to the venue and back - beware there is no pavement so worth a taxi if it’s dark.
We received a warm and friendly welcome. The pastries for breakfast, milk and juice were lovely. We stayed Saturday night and heard little noise from the pub. Good quality bedding.

United KingdomCouldn't book dinner online as it was full for Mother's Day. No cooked breakfast available as the pub shuts on Monday. Posted keys through the front door when we left. Didn't fancy a shower as water came up the plug hole when you flushed the toilet. Also no plug in sink which made washing difficult.
Close to the Severn. Nicely decorated room and comfortable bed. Not very noisy considering it was a pub. Pleasant staff.

IrelandThe bed - unfortunately it's in real need for replacement. Could feel the springs when lying down and also any movement from either of us during the night caused it to creak.
We had such a lovely reception from the staff. The food in the restaurant of the pub was delicious. The croissants/cereals plus tea/coffee in the room was a nice touch and was unexpected. We were staying for a friend's wedding up the road so the location was perfect.

United KingdomThe staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us and our bikes as we were on a 3 county cycle tour. We had a lovely clean spacious room overlooking the village square. Great menu choices for the evening meal, beautifully cooked and a well set out continental breakfast which we could eat in our room.

United KingdomI don't think WiFi is available, food only available Wednesday-Sunday, pub closed on Monday. This is a village pub so the staff will have a day off, so this should be expected and allowed for.
I like the feel of these rooms this is the second time I have stayed, it feels more like staying at home than at a hotel (That's if your home is 250 years old!!). The continental breakfast laid out in your room, with fresh milk, juices, muesli, pastries and cereals is great. You can also make yourself a filter coffee too. As this is for business travel and I leave early, this breakfast is very much appreciated. There is the added bonus of the village pub next door (However, it is closed on mondays, and food only available Wednesday - Sunday). Mark and Sally run the pub, and both have contacted or spoken to me to make sure booking is okay, which is a nice touch. Next time I stay I will aim for a Wednesday night to try the food which I'm told is excellent.
