Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaSuch a beautiful space! Comfortable, clean, cozy. And the location was perfect. Near to Rosslyn Chapel and on a super convenient bus line to Edinburgh.

United KingdomVery loud toilet flush I'm guessing it is a mascerating toilet but meant we didn't want to use it at night. Next doors bathroom must have been next to the bed as we could hear banging and showering through the wall very clearly. Noone answered the door, we ended up calling and then a man appeared that didn't seem like he was there to see us so we assumed it was another guest. He then asked for a name which we gave and he checked us in but he explained he's not usually the one doing it. We felt like a bit of an inconvenience and it probably would have been better if the usual person was checking us in. Saw noone on the way out. Felt a little odd but not a massive deal. Just a note so that they know that these things can affect people's perception and feeling about the place. It's important when you've paid to stay somewhere that you feel at least somewhat welcome. Didn't try the tea room as the menu didn't appeal.
Room was amazing!!! Gorgeous, thought we had been upgraded but it was the room we booked. Great location plenty of parking.

United KingdomReally clean, very comfortable room with excellent facilities (including tea, coffee, shortbread) and a a classic Scottish trio of Iron Bru, Tunnocks wafer bar and tea cake, brilliant. Stayed here before travelling to a job in Leith at a time when central Edinburgh accommodation all way above normal prices. A much better bet, cheaper, much better quality (than places centrally normally at this sort of price) and close, if travelling by car.

GermanyA little bit pricey, but I assume that’s because of the Edinburgh tattoo this weekend.
Nice small guest house, cute cafe in the building and a good restaurant just opposite the street. Comfortable room; parking down the street is available.

United StatesIt was a bit stuffy, but we're used to AC.
Our room was quite spacious and very comfortable. It was a bit stuffy, but the windows opened and we had a nice breeze. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend Chapel Cross Guesthouse to folks who want to explore Edinburgh but not deal with a city stay.

United KingdomBathroom was compact but at least it had a mirror light unlike so many hotels these days. Shame the tearoom wasn't open early enough to provide a breakfast option before we had to leave.
Beautiful room with a lovely bed and quality pillows. The inn opposite is a great option for dining. Location is perfect for a visit to Rosslyn Chapel - 4 mins walk away.
