Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaI prefer modern furniture in my hotel rooms, but the old furniture gives it a really nice countryside charm.
It is a quaint little hotel in Rothes, situated along the main road so it's quite easy to find. The location is great, if you want to explore the distilleries in the area, especially The Macallan Estate. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds really comfortable. My personal highlight though, was the breakfast. There are quite a few options from greek yoghurt with honey, fruitsalad, porridge, omelettes to eggs benedict or eggs florentine. My absolutely favourite was the scottish breakfast (of course) since I absolutely love black pudding and haggis. They also offer glutenfree bread. Also: you can buy the exceptionally good marmalade from the reception. Try it at breakfast then you'll understand why you will want to bring some home. I can also highly recommend the steak pie for dinner. The portion looks smaller than it is and the pie is one of the best ive had.

GuernseyThere was very little airflow and as it was a ground floor room the window wouldn't open fully so it was very hot and stuffy. It wasn't possible to open the high velux windows which would have made the airflow much better. There was a tap which wouldn't close but being the weekend they couldn't get a plumber to fix it. Not convinced by the taster menu, but the standard menu the next night made up for it.
Free parking. Lovely staff, genuinely friendly. Really good breakfasts; best haggis I had in Scotland. Such a nice change to get table service breakfast rather than the usual grim offerings of hotel hotplates. The standard dinner menu was exceptionally good. Most hotels don't do proper curtains or blinds to stop light getting in but The Station Hotel was the exception. This is particularly pertinent when the sunrise is so early during the Scottish summers. Having stayed at 5 different hotels in the space of a week this was easily the best. Great decoration throughout which reflected local tradition with copper making and distilleries. Family ownership makes such a difference whereas Private Equity ownership leaves you feeling ripped off in the typical hotel chain.

United KingdomSingle rooms are a little small for speading out computers for working but in an old building this is unavoidable. Mismatch between chair and table unit height made working a strain. Irritating hum from external ventilator/extractor. Had to close window on hot night. Again probably unavoidable but maybe a fan in the roon would be welcome.
Late emergency booking and staff were most friendly and understanding. Evening menu short but varied and very good. Breakfast options were excellent. Ideal spot when working in the area.

United KingdomIt was a little warm to sleep. Given the rarity of 25+ celcius days in Scotland I don't forsee it being a problem in most instances.
The staff are all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable of their whiskies. The food is great and I would recommend the tasting menu along with the Whisky flight. Rooms were spacious and clean. With plenty of space and tables in the courtyard to enjoy the sun.

United KingdomOn the second night it was busier and service at the bar was a little slow. That was easily overcome by ordering two drams at a time. That said the customer service and dedication of the team remained professional and we still enjoyed good interaction. Thanks again to Ross who was run off his feet!
The location is ideal for anyone who is enjoying the malt whisky trail. The hotel is very well presented and provides a very warm welcome. Ross was great and showed us round the hotel and to our rooms. The whisky selection is amazing and very well presented in a very relaxing and well furnished environment. We stayed for 2 nights so sampled a fair selection. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful with excellent choice and quality of ingredients. We also had dinner on the second night and opted for the tasting menu with the optional whisky flight to complement. Cary’s looked after us and was exceptional. Her knowledge of whisky’s was great and she was very attentive throughout the meal. Also compliments to the chef who prepared and presented the dishes fantastically, which complemented the quality and taste. The room was well presented, spacious and comfortable. It was a great experience and we are already planning a return visit. Very highly recommend.

United KingdomThe rooms were far too hot with no heating on and no way of cooling the rooms other than to open windows but that was too noisy. The beds were too soft for my personal liking and I dislike feather pillows which is what you are given. There was am issue on our last day that meant we were unable to have the breakfast we'd paid for as we needed to leave and had been told the wrong times for breakfast which is frustrating.
The hotel is lovely, the staff are absolutely brilliant and really made the experience what it was. Food was top notch especially the Haggis and there are no words for the Whisky room. Will definitely be returning.
