Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bedroom decor was tired. The beds were a little old, so were creaky and wobbly. A quick once over with an Allen key would probably sort them out. The room was over the kitchen so there was a smell of chips during the day and cooked breakfast in the morning. It also overlooked the bin area but in fairness the price does reflect the lack of view.
Perfect location overlooking Loch Sunart on the beautiful Ardnamurchan peninsula. Some of the hotel looks as though it has recently been decorated. Room was a good size. I liked the complimentary Tunnocks wafers. Nice breakfast. Julie (the owner) was struggling with ferry cancellations, the aftermath of Storm Floris and no catering deliveries but was still chatty and.friendly.

United KingdomNothing annoyed us that much that we want to put it here.
We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Julie welcomed us and was very accommodating. Our room had a great Loch view. It was well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Cooked to a high standard. The bar is used by the locals in the area. An indication they are doing something right. Debbie runs the bar very efficiently, with a smile and a joke. The hotel also sells paintings by a local artist. You can find these hanging on the walls of the bar & restaurant. We did buy one of these. My wife was particularly happy with her purchase. Just like to thank Julie, Debbie, and staff, not forgetting a special mention for the chef, for a memorable stay. The village is a short walk from the hotel. You will find a few local shops and a great cafe to pass the time. With so much to do in the area, great wildlife to see, it is an easy decision to come back. And no better place to come back to than the Strontian Hotel!!!

The Strontian hotel is in a lovely position overlooking Loch Sunart and just a short walk to the village centre. There is plenty of parking and check-in was welcoming. Our room (no 6) has views of the loch and is a good size, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The en-suite is also roomy and comes equipped with toiletries and nice big towels. There is a cosy and comfortable residents’ lounge downstairs and an attached bar and restaurant called the Bothy. I’m not normally a fan of hotel bars but as expected, this one is like a local pub. I based this expectation on my upbringing in rural Lanarkshire and working in a remote, Country House Hotel, where I found out that in areas with limited facilities, any bar will be treated as a local. Bar meals are served in a pleasant conservatory style room and we enjoyed some excellent fish and chips for supper. Breakfast is served in the main hotel dining room and from the usual array of cold starters we enjoyed juice, fresh fruits and yogurt. Our choice of cooked breakfast included “square” sausage (aka Lorne sausage), which was a bit of a treat as for some strange reason, although Lorne sausage is an iconic Scottish food, most hotels and B&Bs don’t serve it. We also enjoyed tattie scone, haggis, black pudding and thick-cut bacon with eggs, mushrooms and tomato. The word “substantial” is clearly most apt here and it certainly set us up for the day. The Ardnamurchan peninsula along with neighbouring Morvern and Argour is off the main tourist track and has a lovely, almost remote feel,to it. It’s a great area to explore and the Strontian Hotel makes an ideal base. Julie is a perfect host and it will certainly be our hotel of choice on future visits.

United KingdomNothing really.
The Strontian Hotel is in a stunning location, our room overlooked the Loch and I watched a heron fishing for his breakfast as the morning mist lifted. The room was cosy with an enormous, comfy bed. We had a very tasty, evening meal, and service was excellent. The breakfast too was excellent, with lots of choice. The staff were very professional and always willing to help,

United KingdomWe we advised at time of booking that our room was at back of hotel. We were on first floor above kitchen. Unfortunately we looked down onto an untidy area which including a large crate of empty glass bottles. Also unfortunate smell if cooking when we returned to our room in the evening.
Breakfast was excellent. Location, was as we expected from hotel info at time of booking.
