Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

A very nice stay. The Inn was easy to find and had plenty of parking outside. The room was sizeable, and the hosts were warm and welcoming. There was good food available, and some scenic countryside nearby. Would stay here again next time I am in the area.

The staff running the Sun Inn were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Traveling with 2 young children and extended family can be a lot to manage and we felt very taken care of by the staff at the Sun Inn. The food was excellent and the atmosphere in the pub downstairs at night was very enjoyable. It was nice each morning to have a friendly face waiting downstairs to help get us fed and on our way.

What a lovely stay. The couple that run this inn are so welcoming, work so extremely hard and deliver an excellent service. My father and I stayed two nights and ate in one of the nights, the food was delicious. The Inn was very clean, comfy and well presented. Would highly recommend, lovely stay.

I didn't like sharing a bathroom - bit past that at my age, but having said that I didn't have to wait to use it. The bath is very small. I was hoping for a hot soak after a long walk but it is both short and quite shallow so I was constantly up and down warming legs or shoulders. I am 6' but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a bath to accommodate me these days. Bedroom had a sink, a desk and a wardrobe. reminded me of my student digs at uni.
The landlady was warm and welcoming. I had a delicious pasta dinner and a well-earned pint after walking part of Hadrian's Wall earlier in the day. Parking was dead easy - right outside the pub. I had a full English breakfast to set me up for the drive home, which was fine.

The Sun Inn is a great hotel above a lovely village pub in Acomb. The lady and gentlemen running it were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom facilities - which I shared, based on my room booking - were smart, clean, and comfortable. The quality of peace and quiet was surprisingly high. The pub downstairs is a classic old British village pub with a warm and cosy atmosphere among a mixture of visitors and local "regulars".

Absolutely nothing
The Sun Inn is a lovely, family run hotel where the super friendly staff cannot do enough to make your stay pleasurable. They have added nice unexpected extra touches like a hair drier, toiletries and wi-fi for a budget hotel. We had dinner both nights and the food was quite exceptional as were the breakfasts with an extensive choice beautifully cooked, Nothing was too much trouble and we were made so welcome. There is a pleasant garden at the rear where you can enjoy a glass of wine al fresco. We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the Sun Inn.

We found the bed was not comfortable, too soft and we both had sore backs. Otherwise the place was great.
