How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing!!!!
Lovely comfortable rooms, an added bonus was a comfortable lounge to sit and chat and relax with our family who travelled with us, very friendly host, fresh fruit every morning, followed by a very nice full English breakfast. Very comfortable dinning room too. Not one thing could we, as a family of 4 adults complain about…..

Nothing we didn’t like
It was a lovely place to stay- Ian and Tracy are such thoughtful hosts and we had everything we needed + bonus of a small sitting room to ourselves. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had - perfectly cooked full English and lots of lovely fresh fruit to start

We loved the welcoming hosts, cleanliness, comfortable bed and pillows, provision of any possibly required toiletries and a wide range of teas and coffees. The breakfast was fabulous - great fruit selection and the hot selection beautifully cooked and piping hot. We choose the smaller room as we knew we would be out for full days but the available lounge area would have been appreciated if we had been in for an evening. We were familiar with Exmouth, but if we hadn't been I think the hosts could provide lots of local tips. As pointed out, the entrance for a car is narrow, but that and the parking is manageable. Many thanks to Ian and Tracy for a lovely stay - we would make this a first choice for our next trip to Exmouth!

Location very good with secure off road parking for small/medium car. Ian, our host, very welcoming. Comfy beds and room. Fantastic breakfast choice. Definitely would stay here again.

Thereb is nothing more we could have asked for
The house and especially our room were spacious and the decor wls very calm made the rooms look so light and bright. The bathroom had everyhing one would needed and more. We only stayed for a weekend but the room certainly had plenty of space in the drawers and the wardrobe for longer stays. I think the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had in B&Bs and hotels. There was as many different breakfast cereals and a lare numbes of fruits to go with them. The main course had the full items and was cooked to order . Swallows is certainly a gem of B&Bs

Ian and Tracey the hosts were very welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and comfortable Lots of little thoughtful extras and immaculately clean. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. With an amazing choice and variety. We would highly recommend and definitely stay again

There was absolutely nothing to dislike
We were made so welcome from the moment we arrived when it was pouring with rain & our host insisted on coming out to the car to help carry our luggage.

We loved our three night stay, the room was spotless and had many thoughtful touches. Ian and Tracey were the perfect hosts, breakfast was excellent. The location was a short stroll from the town or beach so was nice and quiet, parking was a bonus. We would definitely recommend.

Parking was tight but we were helped with that and my husband learned to reverse in.
We liked the fact that it was a bit different. The breakfast was amazing, our host very friendly and the bed comfortable. It was well situated for what we wanted to do being near the sea and the eateries. It was good to have parking on site.

Absolutely nothing to complain about - only noisy seagulls, but what would you expect being near the sea!
The breakfasts were the most delicious imaginable - the choice on offer was amazing. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, making us feel very much at home. The bed was very comfortable and all facilities were excellent.

We had an amazing time at the Swallows. Our hosts were lovely and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean, with a nice private lounge available to use. Should not forget to mention the amazing breakfast cooked just for us. We will definitely be going back!
