Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe evening meal. I felt that the staff are still finding their feet. The wine we ordered got mixed up with another bottle and the food ordered was very basic.
The staff went out of their way to help, offering to do a laundry load for us. Hugely appreciated. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. The garden outside is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink. I would recommend it as a good stop for those walking the St Cuthbert's Way as we were.

United KingdomOne side of the bed was against a wall, which the photos didn't show, which made it a bit more difficult getting in and out of the bed. I'm not sure I would have booked the room, had I known it would be like that.
Quiet and clean room and great shower in the bathroom. Breakfast tasted really good. Bicycles could be locked in the bar overnight.

United KingdomMaybe the bathroom could have been a tad bigger . A little bit more lighting in the bedroom and a slightly better pillow but this picking holes.
The breakfast was mainly a cooked breakfast , you could have anything small or large everything from egg on toast to a full English which also included Haggis and black pudding , there was a small selection of cereal considering they had only been open for 5 weeks they have done a pretty good job. The TempleHall is owned by the community they have an extremely good stocked bar, a restaurant and sell delicious ice cream. If you are into walking Templehall is on the St.Cuthberts pilgrim route, if your driving it is an easy straight drive to Holy Island which is a beautiful place well worth a visit even if your not religious. I would recommend Templehall a small independent pub with accommodation.

United KingdomPerhaps having an earlier time for breakfast as I had to be on the road for an appointment, but not the end of the world for me!
Absolutely super place in my favourite location, staff very helpful and friendly. Great shower and a comfy bed. Food was good too and a bonus that they have Belhaven Best!!! Really quiet and peaceful. Will be staying there when in that area with work as well as going with my partner for a wee night away.

United KingdomBooking.com booking service
On arriving at Templehall to check in, our booking had not been received from Booking.com although we had booked the room in April. All there other rooms were booked out which left us with a big problem as we were going to a 90th Birthday party in Morebattle. however we contacted our friends and after a bit of swapping rooms and doubling up we were able to stay with them. The hotel apologised but there was nothing they could do. They did phone round a few guest houses but they were booked out too. However we decided to book breakfast for the following day which was lovely and staff was very efficient

United KingdomConsidering the short time since the community took over the hotel they're doing a great job. I would suggest adding a light to the corner with the mirror as it was a bit dark.
Newly refurbished rooms extremely stylish and comfortable. Friendly staff, reasonably priced restaurant and good food. Landlord really helpful, even made sandwiches for us at no extra cost.

United KingdomI felt that the staff were very friendly and amenable, they even went out of their way to transport us to our concert venue which was 9 miles away. I was very pleased to hear that the hotel had recently been taken over by the community. I really wish them all the very best that this works out. I do hope to visit again sometime in the future.

United KingdomWe stayed for 2 nights and the room wasn't made up after the first night. This is only a small complaint on , which was overall , a lovely stay. We would definitely book to stay again.
Lovely community run hotel/pub. The staff were very attentive and worked extremely hard to ensure we had a nice time. The room was nice and comfortable. On the Saturday evening we had the small fish and chips which was cooked to perfection as was the breakfast the following morning . There was also plenty of choice on the breakfast menu.
