Plumbing a bit ancient in rooms, need to flush loos a few times!

Great location, near to walk n ride. Rooms seperate from pub, so nice and quiet. Pub has good selection of beers, food was excellent - we recommend the fish n chips. Could do with a lighter lunchtime menu, would have prefered a snack! Great breakfast. Rooms clean and comfortable Staff very welcoming.

Lighting in the room could have been brighter or brighter light bulbs in bedside lamps as the rooms are naturally dark. Room 6 has a solid wood base bed with mattress on top which wasn’t that comfortable unless you like hard beds. The pub needs a garden makeover as it looks run down and neglected which is a shame. It did have natural hanging flower baskets to add some attractiveness. First impressions are important but apart from that overall it was good value for money for what we needed.

Breakfast was good. Bacon and sausages tasty and very good. Location was good as it was very near park and ride but also good link to motorway. So a good location for getting into and away from Cambridge. Evening meal was also good with friendly helpful staff. Room was quiet after the pub closed as a few people sat outside opposite the bedrooms chatting in the pub garden as it was a warm evening. Room had all facilities necessary and clean.

The only thing I would change is the mat in the bathroom this was shades of grey and a rubber back had a lot of shoe marks on it would benefit from a bath mat

We have been visiting the Byron for a while , but the place is in desperate need for a refurbishment. Over the time we have noticed it has deteriorated The bar and restaurant has paint peeling off the walls and the colour of the paint on the walls is dour and dreary. The chairs are rickety and the tables could do with updating. The potential for the Lord Byron is there, but it seems that the owners/management are happy to plod on as it is. When we booked in, the lady (who I think was the manager) actually said to us "have you stayed here before" when I replied yes she said "well you must be mad" !! I think that says enough. But if your happy with cheap and cheerful, then this is the place for you. The staff are lovely though, but please refurbish asap

The location is great for us, Addenbrooks is near and Grantchester is lovely and about a mile away for a walk and meal in either the Red lion and the Green Man.
