Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBeautiful cottage, stunning location too. Spotlessly clean. The owners, Kevin & Catherine, had supplied lots of essentials... milk, bread, eggs, butter, cereals, jam, marmalade, tea, 3 types of coffee (instant, ground & pods!), shortbread, Tunnocks teacakes etc, etc!! All facilities & equipment were top notch too. There was even a parking pass to use locally! They messaged a couple of times just to check I'd settled in ok, and then after a couple of days to ask if I needed anymore clean towels or anything else. I bumped into Kevin & had a chat, he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the best places to visit, and nice places to eat etc. Would definitely recommend staying here - 10/10! 😊

United KingdomNo negatives about the property
Ideal location for anyone who is looking for a couple of days/nights away, easy access to a ferry terminal, bus stops and walking distance to Gourock train station. The property has everything you would need and was ideal for the purposes of our stay in the Wee Cottage.

The location and scenic views were spectacular and also so handy to visit other local towns . Property was immaculate and Kevin and Catherine thought of all the little necessities such as fresh milk , bread cereal eggs etc all for breakfast. United KingdomCouldn't dim the over head lights in the front room. Position of TV which faced lengthwise into the living area in relation to being able to sit on the corner settee which faced width wise. Dont watch tv in bed , but would have to sit on the end of the bed to watch the one in the bedroom if we did.
Proximity to several tiwns and islands by road and ferry. Clean, had everything we needed for our stay including tea, coffee, milk, cereal and bread and eggs to see us through for breakfasts. Fresh towels supplied. Bed linen felt new. Response to a message request was excellently fast. Thankyou.

Perfect location overlooking the water. The bed was by far the most comfortable we have ever slept in through our many trips over the last 5 years! Slept through every night even when it was pouring down! The kitchen had everything we needed for self catering. Lovely cosy cottage and would definitely stay again and again.

United StatesMy only complaint: the coffee was not very good, but I drank tea instead
The cottage was cozy, yet not too small. The views from the upstairs bedroom can be spectacular. There is a full kitchen with eggs, butter and milk in the fridge and bread, cereals and oatmeal in the cupboard.. Kevin and Catherine were incredibly responsive and helpful. This is a great location to visit Glasgow without having to actually be in the city. There is regular train service from the Gourock Train Station.

United StatesCottage exceeded our expectations.
The cottage is a stand alone unit with a fantastic water view of all the boat traffic on the Clyde. We could spend the whole day just watching the different ships, ferries and sailboats cruise by. Private off street parking made it easy to off load baggage. The cottage itself was built with efficiency in mind with a full kitchen including dishwasher and freezer. Breakfast fixings were on hand making it simple for the first day in the cottage. The bathroom was roomy, light and modern. The upstairs bedroom had a nice view of the river and skylights made it bright. The bed and linens were comfortable and road traffic at night was minimal. We really enjoyed the hosts who were available for any need or just a chat and wealth of information. Ferries to Dunoon and the Isle of Bute were close by. We liked the walking path across the road that you could walk to Gourock.

GermanyIt would be top marks in everything if the bedroom had blackout blinds. The street lights outside are quite bright so the room is never properly dark. This was a problem for our young daughter. For people without kids, an eye mask will do the trick.
The views are stunning from there and it is well furnished and stocked. Good location for exploring surroundings. The host was friendly and very responsive.
