Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdomwe only stayed for one night visiting to see the kynren. The house was very nice, had everything we needed, beds comfy, very quiet area, easy parking and a nice 15 minute walk to the town centre. We would stay again. This house would be a perfect base for exploring the area.

United KingdomNeatly presented two bed terraced house. Easy to park outside and a huge Asda just across the road was ideal for us. Worked really well for our family as we visited Beamish. Perfect bedrooms for families with children or for a group of friends, with one bedroom sleeping up to 4 people and the other with two single beds. As long as you know to expect this is a terraced house on a residential street, then it is comfortable and perfectly good for a short stay if you want to visit surrounding areas by car.

United KingdomWe didn't dislike anything Nothing Nowt Well alright Greys not my colour but thats really pushing it
Great location, with parking outside and just 10 min walk to centre of town. This home has everything you could want and is neat tidy and well cared for. Warm and cosy in a quiet location. Fully fitted kitchen with all appliances including a coffee machine with tea coffee and milk provided with some breakfast cereals too. The lounge is comfy and there is a separate dining room with another sofa. Very spacious rooms all nicely decorated and very clean. Upstairs 1 very large bedroom with a double and 2 singles and another smaller bedroom with 2 singles. Plus a family sized bathroom with bath and shower over - super water pressure and all nicely clean and bright. The area is quiet and mainly residential there was no noise at all on a Saturday night. The walk to town is easy all on the flat and there are some nice things to see and do in Bishop Aukland. We visited Kynren story of us show a spectacular 2000 strong performance outlining the history of England with super actors animals music and fireworks. Our walk back at midnight was fine and its very easy to get into town for the bus or for restaurants. There is also a 24hr Aldi at the end of the street. This property is exceptional value and very very clean comfortable and I'd highly recommend.

United KingdomThe only small point was there is just one bathroom/ toilet. Not that it can be helped but a second toilet would have made it perfect
We stayed to be close to Durham for our son’s graduation. The house is lovely and well equipped. It is in a great location close to an Asda supermarket, ideal for anything forgotten. Everything you need is already there from comfortable furnishings to extra bedding. My wife was especially pleased with the coffee machine! The house would sleep up to eight which whilst a squeeze could be done. Parking on the street outside but there was plenty of space. The communications from the host was great and even when we kept adding guests at the last minute he was very accommodating. Will definitely book it again if available for next years Masters graduation.

BelgiumKitchen and dining room in need of better housekeeping - DEEP CLEAN required: 1. Upon arrival we opened the kitchen door to FAUSTY SMELLING kitchen sink drains. In the kitchen sink a well-used black washing up bowl with dried on scummy remains: most unpleasant. We went to the supermarket and bought a clean new white bowl for just £1. 2. The washing machine too was smelling fausty - the soap tray was MOULDY and most off-putting. + No indoor drying rack provided & the outdoors washing line was not secured to the wall. 3. The seats of the dining room chairs were covered in crumbs etc. 4. Kerb Appeal?!?! We picked up the litter accumulated by the front door. Why not just sweep the pavement if you are expecting paying guests. Lots of room for improvement Zillo!
Many positives... But some Housekeeping Issues that need to be addressed! Clearly the host(s) (remote - did not meet them) are making an effort: a nicely decorated sitting room and pleasant bedrooms. Comfortable beds and good linen. Adequate bathroom even if decor a little dated here. The little house is located in a quiet street within 10-12 mins walk of the main sites in the central square. At the end of the road (3 mins stroll) to a large supermarket. Convenient street parking in front of the property.

United KingdomA bit of a flap about the keysafe number and details, hadn't been emailed as we left, needed to contact owner on arriving. Speedily sorted out
Location good, small walk from train station. Lovely old buildings throughout Bishop Auckland and also local rejuvenation happening. Quiet area. Rooms clean, heating thermostat working, turned up when we were in, low when out. Cleaning materials left to use. A walk into town, but crossed over into main street to look at the shops. Independent shops and cafes, Moss and Ivy, Marvellous Toys, Auckland Project, The Town Hall, Parkland Hotel Restaurant which was open later for a later birthday meal
