How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

This hotel is wonderful! There is ample parking and a free cream tea is offered to all on arrival. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well presented. The staff are all delightful, very personable and friendly. Our room had a lovely view of the sea with a huge bed and was very well appointed. However, I would recommend that anyone with mobility issues, books a room on the first floor as there is no lift. Breakfast was lovely and dinner fantastic. We had steak, it is a must if you visit! The location is perfect, not far into town and close to be able to drive elsewhere.

Could not fault anything. The location was excellent, the staff were amazing - so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent and grounds and facilities were excellent too. Would definitely stay here again - thank you everyone at the Tremarne!

Not about the property and didn’t affect us but just to note for anyone with limited mobility it’s a steep hill from the village back up to the hotel.
We really liked the team there, very welcoming and naturally kind and thoughtful. Always smiling. Great breakfast selection and nicely presented. Pool area very nice for relaxing. Sea view. Short walk to village.

The only disappoinment was the scrambled eggs for breakfast the second morning - very dry.
The room had a balcony looking out over the wonderful views. Large room and good sized bathroom. Sat outside on the terrace on arrival with a cream tea. It was lovely to have a bar available and we could sit in the large lounge with our drinks - very chilled! Breakfast on the first morning with poached eggs was lovely.

Couldn't fault anything
we where greeted by Tam on arrival who clearly has a passion for what she does, we where shown to our rooms and given all the information for meals etc, and shown to the pool which was an added bonus as we hadn't realised there was a pool, she then told us that once we where settled in to come down for a complimentary cream tea, all home made and lovely, we went out for tea early evening and return for a few drinks in the bar, again really warm and friendly atmosphere. breakfast the next day was really good quality served by staff that clearly shared Tam and Wes's passion for the hotel, we didn't eat in of an evening but everyone that did was saying how nice the food was. we went in the pool which whilst small is a great addition as is the sun terraces. all in all a really great stay in a hotel run by people who care.

The property is immaculately decorated and everything is spacious and comfortable. Tam and Wes the hosts are delightful and very accommodating. The restaurant meals are excellent and all the serving staff are friendly and professional. You are made to feel like you are a regular guest and we would not hesitate to return or recommend the property to anyone.

Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Staff were more than accommodating. Tam and Wes who run the hotel were especially exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble always greeting us with a smile. We had to come home a day early as my husband was poorly and Tamsin emailed me to wish him well after we left. This shows what lovely people they are. There was also onside parking which is quite rare in Cornwall.

Nothing - it was lovely again
Our 2nd visit wonderful welcoming hosts, beautiful location, great food and comfy bed. Far enough from centre of Mevagissey to enjoy a pleasant walk to there or Portmellon down the hill for a drink. Lovely garden has high quality garden furniture and a small refreshing pool. Perfect given lovely weather. Couldn’t be better.

Only having one night
Lovely family run hotel. In a great location just above the main village , about a 10 minute walk if that. Cream tea on arrival, was the best cream tea I ve had. Delicious. The room was by the pool , and comfortable and clean. On site bar and plenty of choice of places to sit and have a drink outside. Good choice of breakfast. Friendly staff. Hope to return as only had one night and the area is beautiful and not over touristy.
