We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomIssue with key opening bedroom door. Lock was faulty and each time i returned to the room, I spent around 5mins fiddling with the door lock to get in to the room (not great at 10:30pm). It seemed to lock ok (still not easily) but unlocking from outside was like playing roulette because you had no idea if / when it would open

United KingdomNo hot water. No heating through that night. The curtain pole fell off then a curtain fell off the curtain pole. Two plug sockets were missing meaning I had one socket for all the devices... but the telly wasn't working anyway. The cupboard door under the sink fell off. The room was absolutely freezing but I guess I was lucky enough to be able to use the curtain that fell off as an extra blanket. I managed two nights after booking 7, before I left, showed all the pictures to booking.com who immediately issued a full refund, plus £40 compensation. Quite simply the worst place I've ever stayed and I was homeless for 10 years as a young man.

Friendly staff; small details like plenty of tea and coffee supplies. I was given a portable radiator to keep in my room (very nice) because the main radiator didn't work the first night, but sorted straight away. Hot shower every time. Quick response when I needed to book a family member into another room. No problem with gaining the keys. The room is not a luxury room but it suited me very well and I found it to be warm and comfortable. Every night the other guests were quiet and considerate so no noise and the street is also very quiet. A really great small guest-house. Also immediate access to Seaton Carew seafront - bars, restaurants, cafés all within a few minutes walk & parking at the rear of the house. 😊

United KingdomSadly when we arrived, we were told that that there was no room for us, they rented our room to someone else.... they eventually offered us another room, but the stress of it all was unnecessary, especially as we booked the room weeks in advance. Also, the car park got locked for the night, Reception was not staffed, so when we arrived back we noted there was a pad lock on the gate. Me and my friend had to climb up and jump down 8 feet gate to get to our room... our car was locked it for the night, so if we needed to leave, had some emergency- we would have not been able to..

Great location, super helpful host, especially as Booking.com had cancelled our reservation! So we had to pay AGAIN (partner FJR Brown paid and they still haven't refunded me!! Very helpful restaurant recommendations Excellent breakfast.

United Kingdomcouldn’t stand up to have a shower in the room, had to sit in the bath. there is a stand up shower in the shared bathroom but I didn’t want to walk down a hall and flight of stairs just for a shower.
