Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The most beautiful, carefully curated shepherds hut in the most idyllic Sussex countryside setting with thousands of flowers in the garden. Heavenly!

United KingdomThe gas stove wasn’t working but phoned the hosts to work out using an alternative one in the shed. Some windows lacked curtains so light in the morning - bring an eye mask (I was prepared!) no power so bring a power bank charger (there are some solar ones there), also no Wi-Fi and poor phone signal
Good if you are looking for a quiet and basic and away from normal modernity experience

FranceA few cobwebs in corners and around windows that didn’t bother us but might bother some . No shower by we knew in advance and we understand one is being put in nearby
Idyllic location and a very cute, quirky and romantic stay. Loved the white horse pub nearby too. We are used to a motorhome so having such a cute place and fabulous garden with an outstanding view was an easy option for us.

United KingdomI think the only thing I would say is bring a power bank, although we were warned ahead of time that phone Chargers were solar powered so we were aware, not an issue for us!
Beautifully tranquil location with incredible views. We had everything we needed for our stay. Hosts were lovely and so helpful and it was great to just unplug for the weekend! Loved watching deer and phasents in the fields. Bed was so comfy and kitchen well equipped.

United KingdomThe only thing that spoiled the back to nature experience was the outside light that stayed on all night.
Enjoyed being off grid, in remote, quiet countryside. Wonderful to be close to nature, saw deers and hares. Hut is very comfortable and cosy, with well appointed facilities. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with milk. Helpful hosts.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say is there is no fridge and shower so if you’re planning to stay a couple of days make sure you are prepared! (We had a cool box which was very helpful)
Up at the barn was exactly what you’d expect - it was peaceful and secluded and absolutely beautiful views. I wish I had stayed longer. The owners were kind, helpful and made sure we knew where everything was and how to work it. It was very much worth every penny and I really felt relaxed when I left! Being able to hike the downs from the doorstep is an absolute dream.

Location was everything. So rural and peaceful. Watched the deer in the fields as the sun went down and listened to the owls in the evening. Such a relaxing night away. Bed comfortable had everything you needed for a night away. Local pub only a 10 min walk away. The walks were amazing

United KingdomUnfortunately, there was a power outage - not sure whether it was a tripped switch or something else... No-one's fault, but there was no electricity to charge my mobile phone. Luckily, it assisted me in my bid to get away from it all! 😄
A lovely place to stay and in a superb location, so beautiful and peaceful. The hosts were very helpful and the facilities very good.

United KingdomThe lighting when it got dark proved a little fiddly, it is produced via solar voltaic units, but I found out the hard way, that if there is still any light getting on the unit, they will not operate the lights. You need to turn the solar part of the unit over and then it will operate the lights.
Comfy, everything you could want inside, the flower garden is so pretty and the views are fantastic. Great quiet location with just the odd car going along the lane from time to time. Lovely area for walking too. Anne was great with communication and gave precise details of the destination when required.

SpainI feel lied to, there was no shower, this is not mentioned and in Fact when researching this it stated shower cubicle, which LED me to believe there was a shower. It also stated there was a hairdryer at the property, there is no hairdryer or electric and not even any decent lighting. I have photographs of the poor lighting. Please tell me how anyone can do anything in this lighting.
It was in a pretty location and the Bed was comfortable.
