Beautiful, stylish hotel with excellent location for public transport and for the promenade. We had a wonderful week there and not the first time. Fabulous range of food for breakfast and an amazing English breakfast as well as kippers. Restaurant has delicious salmon and other choice for dinner. Excellent staff and brilliant owners. Thank you

If there was a downside it was the room was very hot, but the reception sent up 2 fans which helped a little. The rooms facing towards the front of the hotel seem cooler. Next time we will request one

What a gem of a hotel. Family run and nothing was too much trouble, the room we had was a decent size and I requested a shower over bath which I was given, I knew it would be busy because of the TT trials but considering it was full there was no drop in service. Breakfast was perfect, the bar was very reasonably priced and the view to the sea was lovely from the outside terrace. We will 100% stay again and it's not often I say that. We loved our stay and the Welbeck was a great choice

I found the photos of the rooms on the web site confusing when it came to booking. There were several rooms in the category I wanted ie luxury...However no guarantee of a particular room.

Beautiful room with everything we wanted. Comfort, facilities and cleanliness with the luxury of the best view, a sofa and bath. Perfection!!

A lovely welcoming family atmosphere. The staff said the hotel has been in the same family since the 70s and you can really tell. A lot of time and love has gone into The Welbeck. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I was particularly impressed that we were given 2 fans because the room was hot due to a heatwave. We will absolutely stay again.

There wasn't a clothes airer to dry clothes which don't tumble dry, but the hotel has taken this on as a suggestion. The apartments sadly wouldn't be suitable for anyone who can't do stairs, but the owners have made every effort to make it as assessible as they can.

We enjoyed our stay at the Welbeck very much. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful, the apartment was clean, bright and well equipped. There is a ramp up to reception (to the right of the main stairs) and we were able to keep my daughter's mobility push chair downstairs. When booking, I'd asked about accessibility and was given a clear description of the stairs we'd need to use to access the room (one flight up from the bar to the corridor to the apartments, one flight up to the small lift and then another up or down to the room, as the lifts are halfway between floors). The lift was very small, but made things much easier for us. The apartment was lovely, the bedroom we had faced onto the back bank which was covered in trees, and we woke each morning to beautiful bird song. The bed was comfy and the cot was already set up for us on arrival, including sheets. The shower had great pressure and there was plenty of hot water for us all. The TVs had Freeview (but no casting option that we could find) and the WiFi reception was good. The view of the sea from the dining table was lovely. The kitchen area was well equipped, all of the appliances were in good condition. We really appreciated the option for housekeeping to make the beds and change the towels during our stay and that there were guest laundry facilities (coin meter) with detergent provided. When our plans changed, we called the hotel and they were happy to take our laundry out of the machine for us. On check out they were also very helpful. We'd definitely stay again!

It was a fair old trek to the top floor where our room was- up multiple flights of stairs. As the building is old, the floors were a little slanted - but that can’t be helped! The decor in the rooms is very dated. I felt like I’d stepped into 1983. Even the crockery in the kitchen was like my gran used to have. The website says ‘coffee machine’ but we had no clue how to use it as it was so old-fashioned, with a jug to catch the drips of coffee. It was sort of charming though and forgivable as it was so well looked after. Our biggest worry was what we would do in the event of a fire. Although there was a fire escape outside one of the windows there was safety glass in the window and a window lock (no key) so if we had needed to use the fire escape we would not have been able to. The man who checked us in when we arrived was a little surly and monosyllabic. He marched us up the stairs and it was hard to keep up with all our bags (and two small children) and sort of left is to fend for ourselves without explaining anything. For all these little niggles we had a great stay though.

The property is in a fantastic location, close to bus and electric rail stops. The communication prior to our visit was fantastic. The hotel got in touch to ask how we’d like the beds to be configured and what type of pillows we’d like. We loved that the room was serviced every day and it was spotlessly clean throughout the stay, with bins emptied and towels changed on request. Having the kitchen area was great for travelling on more of a budget- we even arranged a Tesco delivery for the day we arrived and met the van outside. There was no noise from other guests - which was lovely and it felt private once we were inside the apartment. The WiFi was great. We took our fire stick for the TV and streamed films.
