How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Verified reviewThe house is a lovely old house with lots of character. It is situated very close to the village centre. The room was large and comfortable for myself and 2 dogs. Lindsay was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location is such that several towns are easily accessible, Saltash and Bude were the 2 trips we made.
The parking was a bit confusing as it is not clear when it's safe to park outside or when parking has to be 400 metres up the road! Apart from that there was nothing to not like!

Verified reviewThe host was very attentive and a very friendly chap. Nothing was too much trouble! The breakfast was delicious, the room exceptionally clean and a very good size. The bathroom was spotless and again, a very good size. Callington is a lovely town. We will be back.
The only things we can say that we didn’t like was the on street parking and the lack of a garden for late night wee’s for the dogs!. Could there be a possibly of coming to an arrangement with the bowling club next door to use their car park maybe?

Verified reviewReally can't rate this stay enough it was exceptional, cleanest accommodation we have stayed in. Such beautiful period property with many features and history the roll top bath was pure luxury. Warmest of welcomes and nothing too much trouble arrived as guests left as friends. The village has everything you need on your doorstep. Looking forward to staying again.

I was working night shifts and I had a message to confirm my arrival at 9:36pm that I couldn’t reply to as in work, they then messaged at 10:35am saying someone wanted my booking and then had another message saying they cancelled my booking!! as I was then asleep from my night shift!! I booked this stay for my mam and dad for my dads birthday they had left the country as they was on there way and then was gonna phone me when they was about 2hrs away so I could message them so I could still get some sleep I then had to phone them and tell them to turn around as it had been cancelled. Will never ever attempt to stay here again if a booking is confirmed it should never be cancelled!!! Definitely wouldn’t recommend!!
Dear Hayden, we tried to contact you several times over the course of 2 days, to confirm your reservation and your arrival time, we did not receive any contact from you at all, we texted you and we called you several times, 2 of the text messages were received and read by you we then sent you a text to advise if your circumstances had changed or you had a car break down we could cancel the reservation with out charge , which we did as we still had no reply from you. we contacted you in the morning afternoon and evening and we still did not have a reply , seeing as you did not stay at the Chantry it is disingenuous to leave a review when you did not stay!! this is a miss communication issue, for future reference , i would advise the accommodation provider your time of arrival and your circumstances ie you work nights and this may impede a timely reply, . as we had no idea you worked nights how would we.,

Unfortunately there was a very strong smell of mildew in the common areas of the building. Cleaning supplies, hoover etc was left out in the corridor for the entirety of our stay.

We wish the bathroom was en suite. The property seemed more on the older side in comparison to other hotels/ airbnb at this price point but not a huge dealbreaker.

Verified reviewThe Chantry is a beautiful guest house. Our room was very clean and well furnished with comfy beds. A ketttle with tea, coffee, sugar, cups and glasses provided and a small fridge for milk. The private bathroom was amazing, the decoration, free standing bath and large shower were immaculately clean. The lovely welcome was kindly appreciated when we had been in traffic for hours. We will definitely be booking to stay again.
