Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Really hard to fault anything. A train passing by across the road woke one of us up once, but otherwise we slept very well and felt very much at home throughout our stay.
Superbly decorated, well-appointed property. Excellent location. Lovely hosts, very helpful, genuine and caring. Magical views from the upstairs front bay windows. Tasty breakfast with a good selection of options. Highly recommended!

It was expensive. Didn't see the hedgehog. There wasn't enough I didn't like to write 2 or 3 sentences.
Garden was at its spring peak and absolutely beautiful. Hosts were solicitous, helpful, and thoughtful. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Recycling bins on the stair landing made it easy to dispose of waste responsibly. Hosts were acutely aware of animals in their garden and did their best to help me see the hedgehog, although it was too early in the season to have much hope of a glimpse.

Stayed here as a base for Etape Caledonia cycle race. Could not have asked for a better place or location. Murray and Deborah (the owners) are simply amazing. Friendly, welcoming and hugely accommodating to all your needs. The rooms themselves are very spacious, comfortable beds and the breakfasts in the morning are an absolute treat (try the home made jam!) Thank you, Murray and Deborah again for such a wonderful stay!

I can’t think of anything that could be better.
The breakfast was very tasty , plenty to eat and the hosts were very attentive, friendly and efficient. The location was perfect for me. It was within easy walking distance of the town centre and within an a short drive to the theatre which was my reason for being in Pitlochry.

Least friendly and most expensive of the 4 places we stayed in 5 days. Not allowed in the garden despite it being featured heavily in their promo. Grand living room in the photo's was behind a closed door and was never mentioned or offered as somewhere we could sit while waiting for each other to come downstairs. Asked for a slightly later checkout (Dad was ill) - was told strictly no.
Breakfast was good but the schedule was stiff and strict. Asking for a second pat of butter for three people felt like we were pushing it.

Murray, one of the hosts, welcomed us very warm and friendly when we arrived. Deborah cooked us amazing vegetarian breakfast. The hosts definitely made our stay super comfortable.
